PimpMyPC and I need some new meat. I currently have General Tire Exclaim UHP's and love them.

That used to be the best bang for the buck. Whats the new catnip?

I found these Hankook.

The Exclaims are a great tire, however I'm pretty sure many sizes have been discontinued. I went to buy them again for the Viggen last summer and nobody could get them. I ended up going with the General G-Max's and love them even more than the Exclaims. Very nice tire for the money.

I am not one of the names listed above but will donate my $.02 anyways

Michelin Pilot Super Sport is what I just ordered

You get what you pay for.... if you like those all season generals get them again. I personally hate all season tires for year round driving.

The Hancook's seem to get good reviews as well as some Nitto's Yokoham's & a few others. Need to know if you want another all season or summer only tire & go from there.

Due to this statement "This all season tire offers excellent traction in poor road conditions as well as protection against hydroplaning"

I thought it was all season

It's definitely not an all season. They are basically useless in anything more than a dusting. Very grippy tire that's great in the rain. I never hydroplane with my G-max's while I can see all of the other cars on the road getting squirrely. They also wear pretty nicely and are very quiet and smooth. No noise at all. If you're looking for a race tire, get slicks... if you are looking for a well balanced hi performance summer tire, the G-max is a great tire.

The V12 Evo is a very good tire for the $$$. I've been very pleased with them on my 9-5 Aero. Wet and dry traction is excellent. They seem quiet and have been wearing well.

Other good bargains: The Sumitomo HTR ZIII deserves a mention.

The UHP is a good tire, no doubt (I have only driven on it a limited amount), but I think the V12 Evo and the Sumi are newer, superior designs.

Tire tech is getting really effin good at the low to mid price point. Especially for performance tires.

I have some HTR ZIII on my new wheels. So far, even though its cold out they seem to be pretty good! I will be autoxing them in spring time.

I would go for the 215. I run 225/45/17 (Hankook R-S3) in 17x7.5 Focal F-06's for autocross/track use. I'm very pleased. The 215 would tramline less, so it'll be better on typical roads. If you are lowered you will also have more clearance.

I had the hankooks on my jetta with my 17" summer wheels. Great tire, I was really pleased with it, only lasted me two seasons though. I was doing high miles during those years, so Im not complaining. Pretty good in wet, nice and predictable. Never ran into an oh shit situation with them. This year Im moving up to Pilot Super Sports. They are a bit more money, but I want to hit up some autocross events this year and I want all the traction I can get without being shoehorned into a "competition tire" class. If they are good enough for Porsche to put on the Cayman, I think my lowly TDI will be just fine.

Will those Hankooks hold up to AutoX events this summer? I have a bad habit of pushing my tires to the very limit. This year I will have 2 or 3 cars and a motorcycle to keep the miles off the Saab for once. :D

I've got the K110s on my S6, and my dad has them on his Corvette(which is modded to the tune of ~450hp). We both like them a lot. They are an excellent street tire, and would hold up fine to some autocross.

However, if autocross performance is your main goal, I'd probably step up to the Ventus R-S3. I have a friend who has them in 225/45/17 on his stage 4 ng900, and they are ridiculous in the dry. However, they are worthless in the rain, and downright dangerous below 40 degrees. And, tbh, that is exactly what you should expect from a tire like that. The K110's have actually surprised me with how good they do in the wet; they offer much better traction than I expected. They are also not bad down below freezing, but obviously they have NO business being driven in snow. So don't expect them to be a good winter tire either.

the sumi HTR ZIII 's i've had and they are really good for street all-around. however, the dry grip isnt up there vs pilot sports or s02's. and the sumis also arent as preogressive in breakaway feel. in other words, for autox id go with pricier rubber.

A few people I know have also run various sumi tires... none of them purchased tires from the manufacturer again. Many of the cheaper tires will not perform as well at their limit so yea like bruce states if you like going to/past the tires limit getting something a but better might be worth the extra money.

I think the Dunlop Direzza many use for auto x or track days. I tried a set & they get extremely loud as they wear but are cheap & pretty sticky.

When I ordered my wheels/tires last week, local tire store beat tirerack's price. They matched the price on the wheels & beat the tire price by $10 ea, & they were on sale. Another store wanted $80 more per tire then what tirerack wanted.

The Direzza's wear terribly and are extremely noisy in a very short period of time. My ex gf's father had them on his 540i M sport and they only lasted a few months before they were junk. I would not recommend those tires to anyone for street use. Track use, fine. Hands down the loudest tire I have ever heard. You couldn't even think straight while driving.

yes..... for auto x I think they would be ok..... be it good or bad I couldn't hear my wife talk in my car above 45 mph after only a few thousand miles

best bet is to have a track set of tires.... & a street set of tires

starr specs or dz101s? my last set of tires were direzza dz101s, and while i feel they are fairly comparable to the hankook v12 evos, i prefer the hankooks. the hankooks definitely have the edge in the wet, IMO
