I saw this on a blue Vig at Carlisle. I have been on the fence. I was pondering doing it, but having a stocker on hand. Its so easy to change I could go back and forth with my mood. At the end of the day, I SLGHTLY prefer it stock. Its nice to match the little polished chrome I have with the wheel lips, stock emblems and exhaust tip.

i wouldn't do it myself. i would make the body shop do it. little addition to some substantial work anyway.

 

i WOULD do it.... i like body colored grills on saabs!

 

maybe i will buy an extra grill in case i change my mind.... they are like 50 on ebay..

I think it would look good only if you removed the wing bar. Good idea to pick up an extra stock one just in case you don't like it.

Thats what kept me from doing it. I was afraid it would look more like every other car. But with having a stocker on hand I could change my mind at will.

 

I'll be honest in that I feel chrome is out of place on a saab. Even in little amounts and that body colored grills would look much better on our cars.

 

I find it is pulled in by my polished lip wheels, exhaust tip and the bit showing on the emblems.

 

the grill is practically the only chrome on the vig.. and i'm not really a fan

I've been flirting with this myself. I haven't been too thrilled with the mesh insert ever since I did that. I've been trying to decide what else can be done. I've been considering painting that black and going body color on the grille, or going all black.

agreed, the holes are too tight. (whoever has actually said that before, raise your hand)

find a mesh with a bigger honey comb pattern...this way you dont notice the mesh as much from afar, which effectively keeps the focus on the grill treatment

 

negative... leave it stock... or atleast leave that middle piece in i think it looks really weird with out it.

I think the general look of the grille is one thing a lot of saabs have in common and I don't think it looks right without the whole grille there. To each their own...

 

IMO, paint the mesh black and the grill silver

 

I like the mid-section (wing) don't get rid of it

it looks empty, and almost a bit ricey without the wing
