Wild-hair ideas...

I've always had some wild ideas for projects, but never the time, space or $$$ to pull the trigger. Not quite "Monster Garage" stuff, but things that have crossed my mind:

RWD C900/99 (front engine, turned around mated to any number of transmissions, Ford rear end) OR (rear mounted engine -- done before but looks fun)

AWD C900/99 (front engine, turned around and mated to an Audi or Subie drive-train).

Saab "999": basically a Triumph Stag V8 (half a Stag engine is basically a Saab "B"motor) mated to a standard transmission in either a c900 or 99, Turbo or non, doesn't matter (can you say trashed transmission?) And yeah, I know about the Ford and the Mopar 99's out there, but I'd like to keep with the Triumph sourced eingine theme on that one...

Sonett's of various builds (done before, Viggenkid! LOL). one in Germany comes to mind, sort of a combination of the rear mounted 900 clip mated to a Sonett III; the 12 second 900 front mounted Sonett, etc.

NG900/9-3/9-5/9k front clip (transverse mounted) mated to...

Fiat X-1/9

Rear of a c900

Rear of a Sonett, etc.

Any other mid-engine, transverse mounted layout (can you say Fiero?)

These are but a few of the wild haired ideas that are rolling around in my head.

Post yours!

GO!

I've seen a Hayabusa powered Smart 4two and Berkley (Fwd micro car sports car from the '60's). Be cool to see the same transplant in a Sonett!

So I'm outside washing the 9-5 and the GTO while the twins are napping and my wife is watching NFL Ticket and another Wild Haired idea pops into my head:

how about stuffing an LS-X under the hood of a 9-5 Wagon? You could include a C5 Corvette rearend (transaxle and IRL) to keep the rear independent suspension plus with the trAnsmission in the rear avoid any firewall architecture issues. A GTO's sump is in the front of the engine to accomodate the steering rack, which could potentially work on the 9-4 as well.

Could be a fun vehicle. Ah, all the dreams, none of the time, money or most important, the skills, heh!

or you could just buy this:

Kate Walsh is optional.

True, however that shares the 9-3 latform and, well, looks like a Caddy nor a Saab.

Besides I don't think the CTS-v version is planned for the wagon.

Looking like a Caddy is a plus....and that's the Caddy-exclusive version of the Sigma platform. No shared DNA with the 9-3 at all.

....and with the historic modability of GM products, there will be a blower kit available about 20 minutes after it hits the streets...and then someone will one-up it with a drop-in kit for the LS-X

Thank you for posting this information. I hav been searching for info on this build for months now with no luck. you are the best:D More good ideas for me to piss off my girlfriend and spend money on. Look for The SPG to be AWD here in the future.

There's rumors of a rear-engined B234 Civic hatchback.... may or may not be true.

I want to eventually have a full body brace made for my ng900 vert. I feel it would make the car 100 times better in the handling department since the body flex from Konis on full firm (and every other upgrade I installed) is pretty horrendous. I hate jacking my car up on one side and barely bring able to open the doors lol.

check out DANS sonett it was at the owners convention he is a local saab tec here in colorado. It is powerd by a B202 mounted to a chevy turbo 350 tranny and heavyduty for 9" tubed and full tube chassis. He is curently running the stock t3 turbo at 40 psi and 12s in the quarter at altitude of bandimere over 5000 feet above sea level. He used to run the car on alcohol have a nasty boared motor wiht forged internals shooting nitrous and has had it into the low 9s but has since gone back to stock motor with basicly 40 psi of boost because it was getting realy expensive when things broke. Hope this is som insperation for you.

40 psi on the stock 900 t3? That must be working real well for him. *

im pretty sure that the sonett hes talking about ran 40 psi on the old turbo when it was all built running alcohol .... now i think hes running the stock t3 turbo not at such high boost ... or at least thats wat cruzin said in his build thread
