the economy stuff is bullshit. everyone seems to forget the bottom falling out during his first four years, and oh wait they release the huge oil reserves they horded and drove prices up with to make themselves look good...

i hate politics, but anyone that starts 2 wars in 8 years and trys to pull me into a draft will never get my vote.
to avoid insulting i'll refrain from comment other than...come on...seriously...

i put the vid up for people to check out and give feedback (not slandered comments)...everyone should have an open mind...i didnt start the thread to hear the typical liberal jargon, i can find that in the media

the video is obviously biased...without a doubt. it is though based upon facts and quotes, with obvious humor thrown in there. thats why i put it up to offer another side to what most people would see everyday

college has this funny effect on you.

im a democrat...alot of college kids are for various reasons. i hate radicals on either side. dean was an asshole, and kerry although i voted for him, ruined his own chances with his stupid comments and floundering. Then again i view bush as a radical...im in now way against religion but when its running our country...i dont like it.

my opinion and nothing else is stated here

I am a democrat. I agree, I guess it really does depend on what your career is and how you are brought up. My mom and dad both worked there a**'s working blue coller jobs. They are both democrats. I have friends who were given anything the wanted in life by their rich parents and they are republicans and they think the economy is perfect from our " great president" haha. If you try to tell them any different they think you are unamerican. I am just soooooo tired of republicans not connecting with the average american but with the rich stuck up americans. Anyone is better than a republican!

#24 ·
I am a republican but definantly not a die-hard one. I vote for whoever I feel is the better person for the job which has usually been a republican.

I am the 4th generation funeral director at my families business & like your parents, my parents (as well as previous generations) have worked their ass off at work just like I do. We are by no means wealthy however I feel I have been fortunant for my life. Everyone should make a descent living for what they do because everyone isn't cutout for every job. Several people that I know who work or worked at the local GM (trollblazer) plant & make $60K+ more then I do plus all their benifits!! Thus I my guess is my family is more middle class then the majority of those people :)

Generalizations will get you no-where, both parties have their share of wealthy supporters all equally narrow minded & clueless

#22 ·
i have plenty of non-rich republican friends...they also do not all fall into the religious republican stereotype. There are other reasons that people decide to allign themself with one party other than money - although I do believe family politics play a large part.

College people are a funny bunch... down with bush, down with the establishment, down with corporations, blah blah I'm a radical college kid that can change the world...

Yeah, like your drive bush out of office rally is really going to make a damn difference. So stop blowing your damn "out with bush" whistle in my face before I knock the shit out of you liberal motherfuckers. You see all the shit you wear, the products you buy, the cars etc? They are all made by some sort of corporation or large company so shut the fuck up and get back to class.

Art kids are the worst. I love art, but I hate their damn attitude towards life. All they do is bitch bitch bitch about the world but they do nothing to even want to improve it. Fucking emo art kids motherfuckers. Not to mention that all their conceptual art is pure shit that doesn't take more than a retard to make. Oh, I think I'll splatter some paint on a canvas and call it "Dawn of the Darwinian Man."

so this is taken from a debate i have on facebook. This is alittle somthing that isnt supposed to be for one party or another and really more to look at the REAL problems are that lie ahead for my generation. (financial and economicly speeking.)

But its especily for any one who thinks bush is the reason behind the stock market boom and the rise in the economy recently.

There are a few major problems not being talked about this election. And they aren't being talked about because they have to do with OUR generation. Politician know that young people are not the majority of the vote so they neglect talking a bout issues that matter to us.

So here are a few little isues to rack your brain if your worried about what kind of financial baggage this administration has passed on to our generation.

First off you have to know something about the baby boomers. THERES ALOT OF THEM. And they grew up in a very different world then us. They didn't have to worry about 1 billion people from china and India taking the middle class jobs b/c they where communist. Now they aren't and we do. But what you really have to know is they are getting old. The bulk of them span from the age of 40-60 right now and most of them have just put a kid threw college or sent them off to school. They also have decent jobs and as starting to think about retirement which means they are saving money. They are also very afraid of not having social security which means they are doing something else with there money.

And you thought the bush administration was making the stock market rise with its tax cuts... Think again. All these baby boomers need a place to invest there extra money from retirement. Where is that going you might ask? the stock market would be your answer. In Big steady growing companies with good returns and dividends (the Dow... which coincidently is hitting record highs) so when they retires they will have a decent income.

Well guess what folks.... in 10-20 years when that group of people retiers what are they gonna do? Well they need that money they have been pumping into the market. Which means its all coming out. And that means... you got it recession. And what are you going to be be doing in those 10-20 years? Have a family? Build a house? Buy a car? Send your kids to college? Save money? Sucks for you.

You think that's bad news for your money try this!

Lets look at this fantastic war we are at now. Granted yes its hard to decide what we should do and when we should get out.. but what you should know is its costing 9 BILLION DOLLARS A YEAR. That's pretty close to 25 MILLION a day.

But bush is cutting taxes. Funny. How do you pay for a war with no income?

You borrow money. And when you borrow money you have to pay it back.
How may you ask will we pay it back. Well somebody is going to have to raise taxes when those banks come knocking on the gov. door to collect. When are those loans gonna come due? 10, 15, 30 years.

Wow sounds like about the same time the market will be declining... great.

So now here's the best part.

You survived all this and you think your good to retire. Well i hope you saved money. Because all of our government analysts have calculated social security to last for another 45 years at the rate we are going.

Add 45 to your age and ask your self if your going to be wanting to receive social security. Well i know im going to be 20... which means ill be 65... and yea ive been paying my taxes to get social security So my answer is defiantly yes id like my portion and chances are im not going to get it.

So weather you're a democrat or a republican, don't be distracted by small emtional issues that the administration is using to drawing your attention away from the important matters and gain your vote.

Do your homework!

just makes you thrilled to think about when people my age are tying to buy a house and raise a family.

I go both ways when it comes to the parties and i think we need alot more of them to represent the country b/c most people ARNT one or the other. Im a finance and econ major .... which is what keeps me on the right... but morals and values deffinatly tend to go to the left.

and while im at it.

Barak Obama for a purple america in 08!

(as usualy pardon my terrible grammar and spelling)

you have GREAT points that definitely should be addressed...yet I've NEVER seen any Dem offer a way to do it.

well..honestly i disagree with much of whats in your quote but thats okay because I can see where you stand. as for the war, 9 billion out our what, 13trillion dollar economy...not a big deal to me...thats an important 9billion dollars. i'll live with paying for my security. THeres NO cap at what I'm willing to spend for the military and to protect our country.

As for the economy. People need to understand that the days to mass-blue-collar workers are coming to an end...we are in a transition. People don't seem to understand that...we're not going to have big factory/mill jobs for much longer (I know that because I live in a community where jobs have been lost and lives hurt from mill closings). Its going to require people going back to school and what not...cyclical unemployment right there.

I dont see why you think everything is going to come out of the stock market unless the people retiring are retarded. Theres no reason to take out more than you need to spend...leave all your assetts somewhere, it just makes sense to do that. Also allow priviate investing for retiring people because I sureashell know I can make more than the (2%?) the gov't returns on my SS and whatnot. FDR had a great idea with SS, but the way its setup now it just isnt economical. Theres no doubt that has to be revamped...thats what Bush has tried to do but the Dems shoot it down and offer NO solution.

I work my ass off (usually 60+hrs a week) and a parttime student, so why should John Smith make almost, if not more than me for sitting on his ass collecting a check from the gov't...fuck that.

as for obama...that would be great...A man with little to No experience running our country...no thanks. (and leave the bush wisecracks out from that comment. the man knows what he's doing, regardless of if you love him or hate him).

This isnt where the thread was intended but oh well. I like the discussion...just lets keep it civil, no mud-slinging and no attackin eachother. We can all disagree without fighting and insulting.

lol I lived in vermont and I like Howard Dean a lot, mainly because he says what he wants to say, he doesn't suck up to anybody and thats probably why he lost! thats also why I like Bernie Sanders, hell that man will get into debate with his own followers! I actually saw Howard Dean in Burlington, almost ran into him infact, just going down the staircase in the parking garage. I'm also very liberal because I'm a History/Athropology major in College with a fair amount of focus on the past 100 years

As for social security, I'm not sure if many of you know this, but railroad employees are exempt from paying into it, as RR employees have their own seperate retirement fund :) Just thought I'd throw out one of those lesser known facts, hopefully I'll get my RR job soon ;)

Hey look i know as well if not better then most people the stock martket returns higher then most other investments (10% on AVERAGE every year key word being average)... but there is one major flaw.

What happends if your invested privatly and want to retier a time such as the past 5 years where the markets havnt been performing up to that 10% or when the markets are off 25% or more?

As for taking money out of the market when they retier.... most people dont have enough money to just sit on tehre investments and let the dividends pay for there life... Even invested well many people have to sell shares to compinsate for the amount of money they need. Thats why we have systems like social secuitry in the first place.

And let us remeber that social secuitry was created WHEN the stock market crashed and because it isnt fool proof. So... putting that system back into the market that it was created balance just doesnt seem logical.

as for the economy. People need to understand that the days to mass-blue-collar workers are coming to an end...we are in a transition. People don't seem to understand that...we're not going to have big factory/mill jobs for much longer (I know that because I live in a community where jobs have been lost and lives hurt from mill closings). Right. but its not a matter of going to school... what it is a matter of is revamping schools b/c our school systems are still based on teaching kids to be good little industrial workers and is in no way perparing them to be part of a active service economy. which is a deffinate plus 1 for dems.

as for obama...that would be great...A man with little to No experience running our country...no thanks. (and leave the bush wisecracks out from that comment. the man knows what he's doing, regardless of if you love him or hate him).
No the man really doesnt... what has he asscomplished? 65% of americans dont approve of the job hes doing.... thats lower then nixon and he was impeached. Hes increased the natioal defficate, got us into a war with no plan to leave, cut taxes for the wealthy (yes... yes he did and if you really want a full argument for it im prepared to give it... yes it effects every one but its benifits the wealthy almost 5 fold over the average income) and has started the desimation of our school systems with no child left behind, and spent a bunch of money to build a fence (by the way the wall of china didnt keep out the people they wanted no wall has ever worked for ever... neither will a fence.)

And lets talk about experience... Mr Bush started 13 companys over the course of his life... every single one of them went bankrupt. Now there is some quaility experience for you to base a leader on.
