I'm going to save up for the next 6 months or so and buy a summer car. i test drove a 04' Z4 3.0 last weekend and it handles like it was on rails and had some pretty good get up and go. I was think of a 350z or G35 cause i'm particular to nissan. I was also thinking of the Z3 M roadster or E36 M3 and turbo the shit out of it.

The first two cars=30K millionaire status.

I'd go for the Lotus if it's a summer only car. Go super impratical for your summer car because you've got the Xterra. That's my thought.
I agree with you. I would look into the Elise if I had $30k for just a pure fun sports car with no worry of practicality day to day.
I was thinking that, but for a summer car it can be really light and impractical, thats the point....a GTO, not so much fitting the bill. I don't think of the GTO as being tossable, sorry :p

Boring joke, it's like tummy sticks at this point*

I would like to make a cheap and fast challenge, a few people are given $2000 to buy a car and mod it however they like within that same $2000.

To be me....I would buy a Beretta since I know the cheap tricks to have them handle well and still run 12's in a straight line. You can do the same with a RWD v8 like an beat up Foxbody, but that's not interesting.

/End Beretta off topic.

One of my good buddies from college just got an Elise a month or so ago...I think he paid just over 30. I finally got to check it out last week. Definitely a sick car that will get you lots of attention, but absolutely the most impractical thing for everyday use. Getting in and out is interesting, cargo space is non-existant and forget about driving in rain (roof is a joke). Another thing to consider is where you'd get it serviced. The closest dealer to where I live (upstate NY) is in Connecticut. The blower fan in my buddies' crapped out (under warranty) and it required a two week trip to the dealer, removal of the whole front of the car, etc. The best part...the dealer techs didn't do all that great of a job lining up the nose of the car when they put it back together...doh.

I have plans for a Z32TT. I love everything about them....except for the weight and engine bay.

Mine was damn clean, I would often find notes left on the window offering to buy it if I ever sold. It was just missing turbos.

The problem is the TT is HEAVY at about 3500lbs.

The lightest one to have is the slicktop(non t-top) and they are RARE.

My Z project will involve painted carbonfiber everything, stripped, staggered wheels with 295's in the back with a serious suspension, 500whp, and down to about 3100lbs.

I have been looking for a $3k TT needing an engine the past year or so. I have been close to pulling the trigger once or twice.

Then I will budget about $12k on top of that to get what I want out of it.

Still will never handle like an S2000 or Elise.

Shit, why not look into a MS Miata?

I have seen some with like 8k for $16k. Thats a sports car. They are rare. They are cheap with money left over to make it quick.

Actually, the elise's are out there for under $30K & a normal title, they just usually have 20,000 + miles on them.

On Lotus talk a 05 elise in BRG just sold & they were asking $26K. Had 22K miles & a clear title

Exige's are really close to $40K now

They do pop up, just have to be patient

Personally not much of a fan of the cars originally listed in the thread except for the BMW's.

First off, what are you going to be doing with this car? Is it going to be a summer cruiser, or are you going to drive it hard and participate in driving events?

First off, scratch the 350Z or G35. Jamoke rides that imo are nothing special. I'd rock either one as a daily but that's it. Personally, I'd go for something pretty specialized as a performance ride.

Turbo E36 M3
03/04 Cobra
S14 240 SX
GTO
