I think the illusion of speed w/ quick acceleration through 6 gears is what the big fucking deal is. turbo cars work over such a huge band of power that there is absolutely no reason to shift excessively, and they limit themselves to lower top speed. the 6 speed was supposed to remedy the issue, alas, rally racers everywhere cry.

raced my buddy again with his 04 STi w/ turboback exhaust and intake. He pulled about 4 cars from 3rd to top of 4th. He was slowly passing me in 3rd and then it really picked up in 4th. My car has a 3in DP and an intake for performance mods. Still waiting on the vid of a stock vig pulling on an STi...........................................

4 cars? Have you dyno'd recently showing your car is 100% healthy? I am talking from experience, you can have a Viggen that feels healthy, then dyno shows you have a problem. If you are making 220whp and 260lbs tq, an STI may pull you slightly in 3rd, 4 cars seems a bit off to me.

dyno and real world on the road are not the same. Heck Mg-td's viggen put down lower numbers than my SE at the dyno day last year and he totally left me like I was standing still on the highway. so dyno is great but on the road it can be different

right but i don't think hes talking about that, to win a race is more then just a dyno number, gearing and weight have ALOT to do with the outcome, i think jameson was just tying to see if that viggen was healthy and what better way then to see what she puts down..follow me?

Exactly. A lot of what happens in the real world also has to do with WHO is behind the wheel.

Yes exactly. My first dyno I thought my car had been gone over and I fixed anything that could be an issue, the dyno was waaay low and a boost leak at the turbo was found. A healthy Viggen makes 210-220whp and 250-265tq(some have shown more(230hp 275tq, a couple a little less) its been agreed upon....if you arent putting that down on the dyno(with fans, I learned this the hardway) then there is likely something that can be fixed.

This is very true. But we also have to make sure that our cars are running 100% before we start racing and comparing ourselves. The dyno can be a useful tool to show us hopefully healthy A/f's and power numbers to correlate to a proper running car.

Seth raced "the one we shall not speak of" and then later showed a loss of power on the dyno which was then fixed. Moski, I think in the past had dyno'd low, then found a fix as well. MG dyno'd a bit low and I think he said he recently found a boost leak. My car made shitty numbers on a dyno with no fans and was in sort of a rich limp home mode, yet pulls well on the street because it got real AIR going into the turbo. The dyno doesnt account for street racing.....but it can clue you into the proper tune and condition of your car which lends itself to confidence in knowing if you do race an STI your car is running to its potential.

Yea, that's true...that would have been an awesome race if Seth's car was 100%.

If he pulled you more in 4th something must be wrong with your car. As speeds increase their acceleration slows much more then a 2wd car so it should of gone the otherway.

If you are referring to waiting on a video from me you need to read my posts & notice my exh has a nice crack in it thus no racing/video for me. That is untill it's fixed.

I do not feel I will blow a STi away however I will be more then happy to be withing a car length of him. Considering MFG HP claims we start with 70HP less :)

Exactly. The fact that distance was gained as speed increased is what though up a red flag for me. 3rd gear is strong for us, so I could see him staying even, or perhaps pulling a bit, but once into 4th at 100mph till the top of 4th which is almost 130mph, you should have made up ground, not lost it.

his Fujitsubo turboback is said to give gains of ~30hp! SweedSpeed93 on this forum has 235whp in his 1.8T Jetta and has also raced another of his friend's STi with a turboback and was about 4-5 cars behind him(most being in 4th aswell). Stock for stock, it s much closer...

Was shotgun in a 04 STI (stock) for about 4 hrs.... IMO there is no way it will pull on a 100% healthy Viggen on a roll from 3rd gear.

My Viggen is making 16-17 psi peak and settles at 14-15 psi stock right now... I hope it stays that way. :)

This was on the way to drive F2000 cars at Mosport. :)
