Hey i was just curious to see if there was any difference in the any of the viggens? Was the 1999 a bit stronger cuz it had some of the t5 internals or is that not true. Any insight ont eh 1999- vs say a 2002 model would be great thanks!

OK i like this thread. I got a 2001 and test drove some 99's. Might be poorly tuned or just more humidity when i drove the 99's, but the 99's just didn't get up and go like the 2001.

Traction control can be shut off very easily when you want to spin the tires (above 45 i think it automatically cme on wether it's switched off or not) but it already controlled some high speed hydroplaning with shot tires.

i'm curious if i have to drive it in the snow what it'd be like, but i don't want to...

I' d like to know more stuff on the different years too, so this is getting subscribed to.

You can't compare it now. Every Viggen is different, especially now when after 8-10 years, one can have a small boost leak or have a check valve that is faulty.

Both Viggens i drove were lower mileage & supposedly stock. I know there are lots of things to consider for cause one running better than the other. I bought the one that ran best for sure. the less i have to diagnose a car the better when buying.

Surprisingly i got the 2001 cheaper than the others were asking, probably cause of the lower miles. They were not in as good as shape though and no PVC updates....

When did onstar get put in? - You can;t use it cause it's analog, but that is a difference...

Low miles does not make you immune to vacuum leaks. Ask me how I know :p

I have learned more and more with this car that LOW mileage just means YOU get to be the asshole who replaces everything :)

I didn't was tcs so 01+ was out plus they were out of my pricerange at the time

I also wanted a 5dr so 2K was what I ended up with

some state pistons are weaker in the 99's & I think 01+ is the best....

I think it was a 02 vert that had the most power in stock form that I have seen, if I recall it was around 235 whp & 290+wtq vs my 2K was 213 whp & 268 wtq

Pistons are weak in all Viggens. Some maybe weaker than others, but pistons are needed at the 300whp mark, though there have been cars that ran more and were fine. There have also been plenty grenaded at stock power levels. Nick explained to me one time my car was safer on Nordic than it was stock, more built in protection.
