Nice truck...

...But... IMHO, I would rather have a Toyota Land Cruiser. Very similar, but, well, reliable.

I would rather have a Landcruiser too, or a 4runner for that matter.

There were none that I could find for the amount of cash I had. Well, there might have been a few, but they were very, very rusty. By that I mean, 'holes in the middle of body panels' rusty.

Then you won't get high-centered in a Sears parking lot again.

HEYOOOO

No really though, the black wheels look good.
Home Depot/Target, not Sears. And it was a pile of ice, in March. I did get through it though.

It was a near high-centering.

My go-to cheap 4x4 (in this area) is a 4.0L Cherokee. Reliable and can be had for $1000. However, they shake, rattle and are not very luxurious.

I looked at XJs, ZJs, and (to some extent) WJs and still ended up with the Rover. I could have certainly picked up one of those for the same price, but whatever. If I want one I can always get one. Like you said, they are plenty of solid examples of XJs around for $1000-2000.

Anyway, this really wan't intended to be a thread about what else I could have or should have gotten, so whatever.

You're wrong. You should do what everyone else tells you.

You have to be fucking kidding me. That's the Saab tuner guy? He now lives in a meth bus?

Ok, someone please tell me the back story on this gem.

but beautiful
ts really nice that I can do a trip and bring my house with me and everything I need to live comfortably
I lived in buses for many years when I was younger and they werent set up as well as the bus I currently live in
the beginning of this round started with a seperation from my wife where I volunteered to send $2200 a month for a year to her to see her through a year of school.
I gave her my part of of a nice house and two acres near asheville NC.
absorbed all the household credit card debt onto my personal cards
I want her and my 6 year old boy to be comfortable and safe
I moved on to a cow farm in scappoose oregon outside portland and worked in portland for a year and lived as cheaply as I could to fulfill the above mentioned self inflicted obligation
without my bus I wouldent have been able to pull it off.
as it is Ive driven myself about into the dirt financially and am going to end up doing a bankruptcy personally
Im pretty glad to have my bus so I can continue to live afford ably so I can pull my ass out of the mess Im in as a result of my integrity I guess.....
so I like it just fine
my bus isent the nicest one here by a long shot but it suits me just fine and I can make it better as I go allong

I wish you all the best and thank you for being here
take care
JAK
Well, did not see that one coming. As long as he's happy I guess...

Holy shit? That's crazy... How the hell did you find that, Jeff?

And, um, sweet Rover. Long-term reliability aside, I beat the living shit out of a friends in the local off-road hotspot over the past few rainy seasons and am constantly surprised by the punishment it can take. Tons of fun.

DeLorean posted it over on FOOR a while back.

Holy Jim? I haven't been back there since high school.
