Soc 2011

From Ian Glenday as posted on TSN:

The SOC will be in the NE and will be hosted by the SCNA (the Club) Board of Directors. As soon as specifics are known we will be posting on our website and TSN.

Had anyone heard Buffalo, NY was being considered? I heard it mentioned shortly after SOC 2010 ended. Have the WASSAAB folks given any thought to trying to help pull one together in their area? Maybe the Eastern Shore of Maryland? That could be a great area for an event like SOC.

If it's Northern Jersey...and is in the western part of the state...there are some venues that could be tapped.

All I ask is that wherever they hold it, please have the location be something more interesting/diverse/stiumlating than a suburban hotel parking lot.

Yes, it's nice to see the folks you might only see once a year. Yes, trucking around the parking lot and looking at cars is always interesting. But realize that sitting and standing aren't the only two things people enjoy.

As for Reading hosting SOC? Hardly. We have no prom food on premises as a rule.

SOC - SCNA sponsored event

To Tweek's point, it's been made fairly clear (at least as I've heard it) that SCNA and its Board will host/run/sponsor (control) SOC going forward. My point was just to suggest that an organized club, like WASSAAB, might be able to lay a little ground work regarding where SOC takes place. And, the Eastern Shore could be a really great place to hold an event like this with the number of SAABers that typically attend. Perhaps WASSAAB's leadership might explore this?

Ocean City often holds car club events at their convention center.

What's not to like? Sun, sand, and Saabs.

I vote Philly. We can have it by FDR. Just sweep up the glass. You get used to the pee smell pretty quick. Actually I'd like to go to an event in Canada some time. Seems like the perfect backdrop for Saabs.

I thought it was the US that was far ;)
And aireeca's signature line is a bit of a give away on her travels.

I drove 12 hrs from central NB to SOC 2000 in my '83 900T with turbo going bad, the heat on to help with engine cooling and oil pressure issues on the way home...yeehaw!
It was large fun but just haven't been able to swing it since.

SOC 2011 Location Announced!

The Saab Club of North America (SCNA) proudly announces the location of its Saab Owners' Convention 2011 - Parsippany, NJ.

The 29th annual SOC, SOC11, will take place on August 18-21 2011 at the Hilton Parsippany located at One Hilton Court, Parsippany, NJ in the heart of Morris County. The site is centrally located, including nearby access to the Meadowlands Sports Complex and FunPlex Family Fun Center, while complimentary shuttle service to the train station makes reaching the famous Broadway theatres, shopping, sporting venues and other New York City attractions easy.

Saab members from all over the United States and beyond will converge to talk Saabs and celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Saab convertible. Conceived by former Saab president Bob Sinclair (known as "Uncle Bob" by his many friends), the convertible centric celebration will feature the unveiling of the Bob Sinclair Memorial Trophy. This annual recognition will showcase the SOC 2011 Saab owner who exemplifies the spirit of Bob Sinclair.

Details will be announced in NINES, the official magazine of the Saab Club of North America, and here, on the SCNA Web site.

Click here to email Ian Glenday , SCNA President, for more information.

Other than the fact of you don't own a SAAB any more :)
Guess he has enough heads up now to find one :)
Wasn't that your Bimmer with the Viggen logo taped on it at Saabs at Carlisle?
Repeat performance!! You were parked next to my 9-3 SC for a bit.

Tough commute for you :p I have no problem with you not having a Saab since you have the Saab spirit!
