To get a trans rebuild quote and warranty info the guy told me he cannot get ANY saab parts aside from whats on the shelf and that a lady was up here stuck from rhode island needing a ecu. it was kind of saddening to me. -_-

Try going to Carmax... My wife and I have been thinking about getting an SUV for the past 6 months... Finally decided we may pull the trigger... First dealership said that they just won't take any Saab in on trade, period. Carmax then told me that they are "selling Saabs that were 17995 last week for 12995 now because of the market" and that my '07 9-5 had "drastically dropped in value".... Really? It's a 5 year old car, still under GM's powertrain warranty... I could see where our '10 would have dropped because the warranty is on hold currently, but my '07 too... Wow.

That's horrible news for all current owners.

OTOH, good news for those shopping-- might be a good time to buy before common sense prevails and values go back up and stabilize.

NADA says my car clean retail is worth more than I owe on it. So that is decent.

KBB says around 13ish. So I am not underwater on it. Although they seem to think it is worth less with the 5 speed.

We might hold off as I don't have an interest in selling the car privately.

She wanted a BMW 328-Xdrive. Loved how it drove. They were having really good deals on them and I get a refund check through the BMW CCA.

Thing is, there is nothing wrong with her Sonata so it was not like we needed this 3 series at all.

BUT, if the trade was fair we would have pulled the trigger today.

Carmax had our exact Sonata on the lot with 10k more miles for $16k. So there is something way off to have the dealer start at $8450 on trade. They should make a profit, they are a business, but that's just silly. If I was to go forward the monthly payment would have been $150-200 more than my math which included getting about $12,500-13,000 for our car.

If I had the energy all I needed was $13,500-14k private, but all of the promotions on the 3 are gone in a day or two and I just don't care enough.

Dealer trade is so nice and convenient. You pay for it, fine-but I am not going to be a jamoke and take a $5k hit for it.

A little.

But she didn't love the car enough compared to how good her current car is. She is longing for a turbo-4 and misses that aspect from her old Saab. The 3 series gets a turbo 4 in a couple of months.

If her Sonata had 100k and or was mis-treating her, the 3 would have been more compelling in comparison. She loved the tighter handling and composure at speed. So once it gets the 2.0T she says she is sold. By that time her Sonata will be in the stable another 12-24 months.

Well, just for reference, my '07 9-5 Aero (Navi, Heated/Cooled Seats, Rain Sense Wipers, Park Assist, Auto, Xenons, Extremely Clean, etc, etc...) with 76k on the clock was appraised at $7,000 at one place and they "went up to" $8,500. Looks like I'm going to keep it, since there's no way I could get a car as nice, with those kind of options for anywhere near that...

I know it's really killing us here... warehouse is not far away and it's been fullof good parts and closed to over a week now... :( Our local reps last day is tomorrow working for Saab. I've got a car on my lift now we are getting a part from another FL dealer via overnite to get fixed and another in the lot with no good transponders and a bad CIM - I feel real bad for that customer who will now be out of a car til Saab SS remotes become available. It's bad @ the dealer here parts wise - and now GM wants the Saab signs off the building.....
