I just read the news and am sadend by the news, he really helped me through a few issues I had with my C-900. I would like to know if theres a way to send flowers to his family, or any charities to send $$ to etc..

He will be in my thoughts and prayer.

I am saddened to hear of the loss of young man. However, I find some comfort in seeing the outpouring of support in this community.
Rest in peace Nick.

Man, as a fellow rider, so sad to read.

We will miss you man, best of wishes to his loved ones.

TSL will remember you.

I remember having a chat with him one night about how badly it sucked being a diabetic kid (not that it had anything to do with his accident). maybe a donation to the Joslin Center or the JDRF?

Or, Tweek was organizing flowers to be sent...

Laguna Flower company. (949) 497-1236‎ I am going to order something, and let them know thay other members who specify "SaabLink" may be adding to it. But I wont speak with somebody till 11am east coast time.

That sounds like a great idea. IMO, flowers are a waste since they don't last. A contribution in his name is much more fitting.

I've got some time off this afternoon. If we need someone to coordinate this, I'd be glad to contact those two organizations, post up details and we can go from there.

We have the saablink.net stickers don't we? What if we designed one for the memory of Xassh and donated the proceeds to his memorial.

I would tend to agree here. Though I think the family would greatly appreciate the showing of support a bunch of flowers would represent, especially from a group of people who, for the most part, never met Nick; they are all very selfless people who would probably agree a charitable donation would be more appropriate.

edit: Ok, so I go in and they ask me to come back and work overnight tonight. Awesome.

So now I'm free for the next couple of hours. Aireeca, have you contacted the them yet?

This could also be a great idea, depending on how people want to go about it.

I really, really appreciate everyones support here. I don't know what else to say but to thank you all. It means a great deal to me, and I'm sure it will mean a lot to his family as well.

nick's memorial service was today. having only known him a few months, i definitely learned a lot about him and his family. would you believe his first word was "car"?

i especially enjoyed the insight about nick's love for movement and being in motion, including one quote from the pastor -- "He was never so happy as when he was moving."

despite the circumstances, it was nice meeting 1985 Gripen, dasaabguy, aero02, and colorcode252. i hope to go for some canyon runs with you guys soon.

wow, This guy sounds like a great guy, what an effect he had. I'm very saddened by the news, but encouraged by the support and sympathy shown by everyone here. Just another example of the effect someone can have, whether or not they realize it.
A little something to think about, Stay safe everyone, regardless.

I just got back from his parent's house... I brought a text copy of this thread and his family sends their gratitude. His mother was especially taken aback by the outpouring of support from people all over the country. I don't think they knew how active Nick was in our small community and they really appreciated everyones kind words and support.

I also spoke with them about getting Nick's car finished and back on the road. Right now, between the four of them living in the house, they only have one working car. So not only will it be a great memorial but it will help out his family a great deal. We're going to figure out the details in the next couple of days. I'll keep everyone posted.

The service was great. I have to admit, I was almost dreading it.. for lack of a better word. I really wasn't sure how it would affect me. On top of the obvious emotional aspect, churches make me very uncomfortable. This turned out to be very different. There were a few moments where I had to struggle to hold back the tears. But by the end it was almost as if a burden had been lifted... like I could finally say goodbye. It was also really nice that such a variety of people showed up. There was a group of people from his WoW guild, six of us Saab nuts, a few people from his work and even a couple of local mechanics he used to go to. His mom really got a kick out of that. It really meant a lot to her.

It still hasn't completely sunk in, though. When I pulled up to his house I half expected to see him wrenching on the Saab sitting in the driveway...

:(
I know how that is. When I was 19, I lost a close 17 year old friend, she was in her Del Sol, ran a light, and t-boned a Camry. The lady in the Camry was fine, however my friend was killed. I passed out at her wake, and I am still in disbelief that she's gone. Its never easy, especially when its a freak accident at the most unexpected moment.

Nicks Service was very touching, i just wanted to share the pamphlet they were giving out at the church with all of you. Im sure even though you guys that are far away couldnt be there im sure you were thinking of Nick in spirit.

I have to agree with Aero02, it was very difficult to hold back tears especially when they read what Nick's father had to say. Me being a father myself it really hit home!

Nonetheless, I spoke to Nicks mom and Nick's brother Eli and they are totally up for us repairing Nicks car. I think its best to leave the car with its personal "Nick" characteristics cosmetically but, we definately want to have it running top notch for his family. As Aero02 stated earlier they only have 1 working car at the moment for the 4 of them.

I believe Nick has a spare engine, however we may be needing some engine internal parts because i dont know what condition that engine is in. If any of you would like to donate any good working parts for Nicks car shoot me a PM.

im speachless, as i didnt hear about this until i saw ironjoes Signature.
he was definatly a dedicated guy, and helped me with quite a few c900 problems.
it is definatly a shame and if i was on the other side of the country id volenteer to help with the rebuild.
might i suggest that the car be "detuned" a bit as c900 performance cars arent very reliable and his family would be better off with a car that can be driven everyday without worrying, then an amazing performance car that requires annual wrenching.
i will try to help with parts.
his feedback and personality will be greatly missed
