I'm all for chipping in on a car rental with a couple other people, and getting a place to stay in Gothenburg (Goteborg), which is about 40 miles out from Trollhattan. I'm not opposed to an hour drive in the morning and evening every day if it means better/cheaper lodging, and if the night life in gothenburg is good.

quinn wtf are you talking about? you have never been out on the town in gothenburg. They have some freakin awesome clubs there. I guess i did have Joakim to show me around and get into the VIP ones but still we went out with the saab screw one night and had a BLAST.

There are more clubs in stockholm, however they are way more expensive and not as much of a party as gothenburg.

You will want to stay wayyy closer to the event then gothenburg. Also its super super easy to get lost driving from trollhattan to goteborg even with nav in the car!! (lol)

I agree that staying closer to the event is the best idea. There will be nothing going on in Gothenburg while the festival is going on, anyways.

were staying at saab place "on the water" right on the canal that runs through downtown trollhatten, not at ronum manor this time... i gotta get the places name but moms selling a saab right now.

Anyone that can should stay at ronum manor... the place is amazing and is a 10 minute ride from the factory.

I just bought my ticket from Boston to Göteborg, stopping in Reykjavík for two days on the way home. If I rent anything to drive it's gonna be something not available in the USA (e.g. Renault Megane, Ford Ka, etc.).

Wow that is a killer idea, because that is going to be the biggest cost.

I guess in '97 Saab sort of helped the people from America get over there, like group airfare and accomodations and cars to drive and stuff. I'm not totally sure about what all they did. My parents went in '97 and are pissed that Saab isn't being so helpful this time around.

I'm going over with two friends who happen to be boyfriend-girlfriend so they're going to be leaving me on my own for a few days after the Jubilee to go off together before we meet back up and head to Iceland. So if there are going to be any of you sticking around after the Jubilee I'd be happy to meet up.

Unfortunately I am not going to be able to get to the festival now, even though (in a bit of a cruel twist!) I found out today that another person at my work wants to swap his annual leaving starting in late May for my annual leave in October! Got some fairly urgent house repairs (not the sort of stuff that is covered by insurance) to do, and my family comes before an overseas holiday in order of priority!

I think a bunch of people from Australia are still planning to make the trip, and some have already paid for their flights. Dunno what anyone else is doing for accomodation. I tried to arrange something but I couldn't commit without knowing I'd have the time off work.
