indeed. i just checked what insurance would be for me on a z06. cheaper than the s6 :(

Nice car. With the 6 speed in a older C-5 I could do some great mileage runs. It was great, mid Maine and back on a single fuel stop at the start and one quick off ramp pee in CT in a nice abandoned industrial park. 500 miles on a tank and still about 1/4 left with an easy 30 mpg.

The best way to hit Boston believe it or not is the long way.

Take Mass Pike right to Albany then down 87.

Anything to avoid 84 or 95 and you are way ahead of the game or the worst is that you break even and have a relaxing ride.

Don't try this on heavy holiday weekends though. The Borscht Belt Bottleneck starts at around Kingston.

I'm guessing the <$20k C5 ZO-6 idea flew out the window once you drove a C6. Its a much improved car in all ways except the actual drive. I approve! Hell of a car for a 22 year old. I was knee deep in dodge daytona at that age.

Maybe now you finally get laid. ;)

The C-5 is said to be a bit slicker in the wind tunnel but GM won't release the numbers. That bobbed tail is suspected to be the culprit.

I could easily live with that.

Nice grab. Price?

Can't go wrong with black, also the stock wheels are perfect!

Oh and I will most certainly wait, the Chariot is keeping me busy at the moment.
I love the wheels but I want it to stand out so need something standoutish.

lol ironic.

i found few c5z's but after driving one i could really feel this car was made in 1997. c6 on the other hand is still in production and despite cheap looking console which i'm going to replace with a new leather one, looks great, even compared to gto. Only thing I miss are the window switches that were on the center console in a gto.

its a 2006 z51 fully loaded.

Yes, condo still in plans.

Hirsch, it's only $50 on a top of GTO yearly which makes it $2380 a year for me to insure and I live in Boston at age of 22 so I think it's awesome.

Going to UMass Amherst car show tomorrow, I'll definitely get some pictures there.
Damn, I pay a lot less than that for home, auto and an umbrella policy. Of course I'm 40, married w/children and a homeowner.

But hey, if I was young and single....

i never paid over $1100ish for any car, being single, and in crime paradises such as philly and puerto rico.

none of those cars i insured was a vette, though. and i wasnt 22 at the time. and i was lucky enough to not live in boston. and i had a garage.

boston....uff

considering all those added risks. i'm not surprised at all, by the insurance raping.

Did you get a quote through Hagerty? If the Vette isn;t your daily dricver than they have low rats. Sorry for the missspels, drunk rght now.

not big on vettes..sorry..

Did you end up going to the car show here at UMass saturday?

That's a nice ride. Id hit it.
On the fence if the C6 > 997, but its a toss-up on that choice. In miami that vette is guido-ville. But that doesn't mean its not a better used car choice over the porsche.

yup. was the only C6 at the show. made me feel i own a rare car (3 GT-R's showed up and a zillion camaros and hondas). not a single saab though.

bruce, i know what you mean. i saw c6 everywhere in miami but porsches were present as well. i was looking at 996's since they were in same price range but it's an outdated car compared to vette. 997 is out of my budget but if it wasnt, i would still get a c6 z06. ridiculous power with amazing look.

also, at the umass show, two chicks came up to my car and asked if they can take a picture with it. i was really surprised how many people were taking pictures of it, while parked next to a modified gt-r.

Ah, I wanted to try and go, but I had to head home for the weekend.

Alot of the guys who planned it are my friends. Let me know if you think anything should be changed/suggestions.

I wouldn't even toss rims @ the vette either. The stockers are beautiful. Vette rims are always beautiful, imho.

I would change the seats though, for sure. And then there's that company caravaggio or whatev which does some great things to the plebeian interiors.

There's a local c6 z06 known as "blue devil" with a full caravagio interior and katech drivetrain. Thing is absolutely epic.

I know about the rampant 996 scene down here. Its ridiculous. But still, a porsche is a porsche.
Id take a c6 over a 996, probably. Better car. Simple as that.

I see 997's in the 30's, though. I imagine that is where you landed. that's why I mentioned the 997, and not the 996.

What you say about the c5 feeling like a 90's car is absolutely true. And that comment certainly applies to a 996. The cars, they have aged. And not gracefully.
