I do have to say that for the price you pay for a new c6 (base or higher), I would have expected a much nicer interior. The plastic on the passenger seat of my the z06 snapped within days of my uncle owning his. But I guess of all the cars in its class, it might also be the best bang for the buck (or at least for the deal he got for his). It's weird to say that for a car that's so expensive...

You're not buying this car for the interior.

The car was designed to be light. There is also a problem with what they call rocking seats and you should be told this. In order to keep down noise and weight the floors are made of a slim sandwich and I think balsa is in a sheet down there. For most guys not a problem if you are normal weight but never let your 220 pound beer bud to plow into the seats. How much premium trim do you get in a Porsche or BMW since they seem to be all plastic too?

if you ever see a vette w/o body panels, it's shocking how little is there for structure, side impact crash protection, etc.

its fanatical about weight savings. alarmingly so, for a modern car from GM.
flimsy seatbacks are just the most obvious of concessions to lightness. they have been notorious for developing squeaks/rattles. c6 excluded (so far as i know). the little seat time i have had in 2 c6's, they felt vastly better than the c5 in this regard.

they make a leather dashboard console with stitching for c6 which looks really cool. 2008 came with the CF console and steering wheel buttons as pictured above.

here are some more pics:

Nice find - how are tire prices? $400+ each? There was a lot kid/wash kid @ the dealer I worked at who OWNED a 2001 Z51 Vette - intake work, cams, exhaust and a chip - thing was loud and fast as shit. He could only afford to insure it for 6 months a year however and he would only drive it in the summer on nice days. He took VERY well care of it. His main vehicle was a 2006 Ranger 4.0L with a nice lift and some 16" Mudd Tires - truck was cleaner then any in the showroom hands down.

Have fun with the vette! The one "cheapness" thing I hate about them is the rear facia/bumper - push on it with your finger and watch all of the tail lights flex in and out with the rear bumper/facia..... light weight indeed.

All tires are huge run flats unless you are brave enough to use a patch kit and about as cheap as you will get is $350 Kumho or Michelin or Goodyear are $500. No spare saves weight.

Coming from Canada on back roads and the car is dirty and old and I hit a car wash and all the kids come out to help. Then I went into one of those big donut things Bob Something or others and the kid is awe struck and asking me what kind of job I have to afford one of those. The kids face lit up when I told that for the price of his car he could get a nice early car.

Rafal, good choice on the new ride. I thought I went through cars fast, damn! A little car ADD ay?

Just saw some pics from the umass car show. Your vettes nose was in the background of one.
