Thanks to Saabeh's purchase of my previous wheels; I was finally able to afford the one's I've had my eye on.

I ordered a set of Raderwerks 18x9" in satin black. The company sells wheels for Volkswagen and Audi, but I was determined to get them on a saab. I did all the measurements to make sure they would clear; taking into account the +45 offset wheels. Everything looked good, so I went ahead and ordered some custom hub adapters (5x110 to 5x112). The adapters are 1" thick, so I had to grind down each lug to sit flush. I mounted the same 245/40 pirelli's, so I was expecting quite a bit of rub; BUT thanks to the removed wheel well liners and rolled fenders, somehow there was none.

I know some people are impartial to the wide stance look, but I've grown to love it. Next step: low profile tires and D2 Performance Coilovers :whacky011:

I appreciate it! I was honestly expecting the lip to be showing having gone from the 7.5" to 9", but I was surprised that it fit perfectly! Those are some versatile tires for sure. The adapters were from a site called ezaccessories, i just searched google for hub adapters and it was towards the tip of the list

You are too kind! Seriously, thank you so much Dame-on. This kind of approval from the Saab community really is the most fulfilling part of customizing these cars. I have never known a more passionate and down to earth group of car enthusiasts anywhere! :saab

I've got a few more goodies coming in the next month or so; Hopefully subtle enough that I won't be "overdoing it" :whacky011:

Thanks Mike :) Cant wait to see yours!

I wanted to ask you... you had 245/40 on yours, right?
what width/offset were the wheels?

I'm in the process of going to 18's, and I would prefer 245/40, but I'm thinking it'll end up having to be 235/40 =0[
The wheels i sold Saabeh are 40 offset, and my new ones are 45. Honestly Im planning to go to 235 or even 225 once these wear down because Im afraid to speed into a turn with elevation changes; It hasnt rubbed yet but it looks like it could.

Needs more low ;)

This thing is really coming together!
Shoot hyea! Put a deposit down on a set of D2 performance RS coilovers :) They'll reach the country in 4 weeks. Im glad you think so! I just have a few more cosmetic odds and ends to add; And then Ill be waiting to finish school so I can save for a new DD (hopefully a 135i). Then Ill park it and gradually change to beastmode: 6speed 9-3 hybrid transmission, Quaiffe diff, forged internals, tubular manifold, a monster intercooler, and a GT3071r. That definitely wont be for several years. If I ever won the lottery; I'd replace all the vinyl wrapped dinoc parts with matte carbon fiber, and replace the vinyl wrap with a true matte paint job! I can dream right? :whacky011:

i also don't like tinted tails but yours seem to be just right for your car and i think its spot on.

One question tho how did you get into your headlight and corner light assys. to darken them up a bit ? bake them in the oven.?

what was your process for it if you dont mind me asking ?

I really appreciate the input :) Thanks!!!

Trust me; I have my qualms about tinting the tails as well. After I saw it on a black AMG mercedes, I decided it was the better looking than the intense contrast of the normal red; And ended up compromising with two light layers of nightshade.

The first time I was going to do the headlights; I tried putting them in the oven on low. Unfortunately within a few seconds, the plastic housing which holds the turn signals in place began to melt :( So I had to spend a while heat gunning and reshaping it before it was close to normal again. Definitely don't try that! In order to open the headlights I used the heatgun, a screwdriver, and a hobby knife to chisel away the factory material. A paint scraper helped to gradually wedge it open; but it was a slow and gentle process. Once they are separated the first time, I used silicon to reseal them- which made it really easy to reopen them to troubleshoot each time. I think it took 5 times total before I figured out how to prevent the HID's from melting the floor of the housing using carbon fiber weave; And jbweld (since normal resin wouldn't withstand the heat)

The turn signals were much more straight forward because I used a dremmel cutting disc to carefully cut the thin layer of glue between the lens and housing. The only bad part is that these are much more fragile than the headlights, and the plastic lens is very easy to chip or crack (I had to buy a replacement lens after my first try) Again, be really careful and slowly pry it open; Also be careful not to cut too much away from the housing so that the lens will still fit flush. I sealed the lenses using silicone, then put a layer of the same matte vinyl which is on the car around the edges. I just stretched and wrapped it around the whole lens, then cut away the inside section and peeled it off leaving a thin black borer on the front. Another note; When discing the turn signals open, be REALLY careful to keep the Dremmel RPM's low to avoid melting the glue. I'm pretty sure that shit is caustic because I felt like I was going to pass out at one point lol

Matt, Two questions;
1. Are the Raderwerks hubcentric or do they fit snug on hub?
2. with the +45 and the 1" spacer, do you experience any kind hi speed vibrations (that you have not gotten used to)?
