Honda went and checked this car out for me and it's in excellent shape. Dealer has had it for a long time and will only come down to $3,200 or close to it. The odd thing is that he had it on craigslist for $2999 a couple of months ago and raised it to $3999 for no reason. Any extra thoughts? Thanks again Honda for checking this out for me.

1992 Saab 9000 5 Speed 106k ***Nice***

Yea I know it's a non turbo :).

wow, looks to be in amazing shape and the miles are low. Looks exactly like my old scarabe 92 that I put aero's on...

Not sure how I feel about the price. 9k's in good condition are a rarity, but I paid $3000 for my 92 9000S back in 2001 with 126K on it, and it was as mint as that, with leather. For the same car only 11 years older? I dunno

A datapoint: I sold a '92 9000S last year for $1700. I had gone thru it to replace missing parts, fix mechanical issues, and did a full detail. Car also had a spoiler, tan leather, and SPG wheels with new tires. Needed a fender re-sprayed.

The one you're looking is cleaner and appears rust-free. Of course, the Aero wheels are a nice upgrade. If it's well cared for and needs no repairs, $2500 seems fair IMO.

If I wouldn't have bought that 87 I would have picked it up. There is no rust on it anywhere the under body is super clean and it runs like a new car. The dealer is a douche for raising the price for no reason but the car was just inspected last month and only thing I found wrong was the central locking was going south. Other than that the car was super clean inside and out. I was very happy on the test drive of how smooth it was for a 92. Also dealer was semi knowable about Saabs and did have quite a few Mercedes and older Volvos on the lot. If you can get em to come down a lil more I'd say it's totally worth it. Car drove so nice I wish I bought it instead of my 87 now :( plus it's Sacarbe green my favorite color on Saabs. If you get it I'll trade you a full Aero interior for the wheels :)
Anyone know why it has a solid metal sunroof though? That's kinda weird to me

Yeah no prob, Miami is so close to PA:winky:

Yay! It would be a shame for it to just keep sitting around. I have two sets of rims with tires that are currently not in use. The 17 inch 5 spokes that are on my 87 with almost new P6s (200 dollars per tire) and a set of 15 inch CS standard 3 spokes with BF Goodriches that have a good amount of life left

Mine had 280 on it when I sold it and it's still running strong. From 126k to 280k the only thing I ever did to the motor besides regular oil changes was change the valve cover gasket... once.

They are amazingly good DD's and being an N/A helps keep you out of trouble :)

I its tricky . Get it if you ever find anotger that clean it will cost that much or more. Look at what people pay for foxbody mustang then look how many are out there. Yes the demand is higher . Guarantee ten years from now when all 91+92 s are of the road we will be killing Eachother for them . And its not like you can just buy one piece for piece out of lmc

you can do much better than 3k for an NA. keep searching. there is a 92 turbo up here. actually its in RI at a members house. can be had for dirt but will need to be towed

Its looks clean, and well kept. the wheels are a nice touch, But as i always tell people "aero wheels never die, they just get removed, resold, refinished, and remounted" i predict that in the next 5 years 90% of the 9000s you see driving on the road will have aeros on them..

We will know how much its worth, but how long it marinates on craigslist. If it sells tommorow, i guess he was asking to little....

If we even see 9000's on the roads in 5 years.
I seriously see these go to the junk yard from non-Saab people just cause they need a 100-200 bucks worth of work. Just sad how wasteful people can be.
If I had the money I'd buy all the 9000's I see and keep em in a warehouse for when I need parts or a new project. btw once I get my '87 fixed up I'm interested in trading for a CDE so if anyone out there wanna trade in a few months lemme know..

I agree that if you're willing to fly somewhere to get it, you could probably do better price-wise (I just grabbed a 95 cs with 131k with very little rust for 1800) but that being said the right car at the right time is a tricky thing to find. Good deals usually pop up right after you buy something or when you're flat broke.

If you are comfortable paying x amount of dollars for y car, it's the right deal for you. Congrats!

Made it back :). Had some issues though and was expecting something actually with my luck. The tires that were on it seem to have been junk. Good enough tread but from sitting one tire could not handle it and it went out. Made it to a shop though and I decided to put new tread on all around. Oil change and full inspection done again. I wanted to be sure and also get under the car while it was up in the air. Not a spot of rust anywhere and very clean. Car could use a good buff though :). Upon leaving though I heard something that made me sick a little. Noise from the release bearing. Nothing horrible, but enough to put me into a certain laugh that would be confused for Chevy Chase during his rant in Christmas Vacation. Made it to the first light and noticed the temp go up past half and to about the 3/4 mark. Fan kicked on and it lowered a smidge. Started driving and it lowered. Dealer said coolant was recently flushed. Thermo going in and also switch soon. I made it back just fine after that and was pleased with around 32 mpg.

The temp gauge reading as you describe is normal for pre 1994 cars. Mine goes up to 2/3 or even 3/4 sometimes, as long as it doesnt get super close to the red you are fine. If it get's really close to the red or goes in it, but only when going slow check the radiator fans and their operation. Turning the A/C on should kick the frontmost fan on and will also help keep things cooler. The fans can be a huge nightmare on these cars. I'm currently on my 4th.

Thanks tuner :). It seems to be doing better and I will keep an eye on it :).
I'm currently replacing the gear oil and hope that will help with some crunchy sounds I have going on. Pennzoil syncro is going in and will address the other fluids as well from sitting. I did get a quote for the tob and other items that would go along with it. $1,250 from an indie Saab place. Think I'll wait a bit and see lol.
