I don't have an air gun, or access to one right now. I do have a profit-sharing check freshly deposited into my bank account though.

I know they aren't meant to do lug nuts, but it's the other 95% of the time that I'm interested in.

Plus, it's a new tool. Shopping and comparing these has been as much fun as looking at my next gun.

I agree, tool shopping, like gun shopping is satisfying in-and-of itself!

I'd recommend buying a 20gal compressor (120V) with gun to get you started. I think you'll be happier. Not much more money anyway, plus, you can get one of the compressors with the kit that comes with a gun and an air ratchet.

The guns are junk, but will get you started.

I have the milwaki line in 3/8 and 1/2 my half will sadly take off properly trq lugs. It was not cheap when I bought them but they are awesome. Even when I was working at the dealer I still used my cordless tools more often then air.

I only used air if I needed more power.

We have a 1/2" dewalt back at the farm. It has been through a lot and does pretty well at taking off most things. If we need more power and can get it back to the shop, then we use air.

I think you will find the Makita stuff is rated for more torque. I spent a while researching before buying a drill/driver kit, and ended up with the Makita. Main reason... there is something crazy like 40 tools that work with their 18v LXT lithium-ion battery. When you are buying cordless tools, your pay a huge amount just for the batteries. Therefore, I want the most tools possible to work with 1 set of batteries, instead of needing different batteries for every tool in my shop. Also, the amp/hr output is more than most with the Makita tools.

just my 2 cents
