Last week we had little snow here in Minnesota making for a messy commute.
My girlfriend tanked a high curb in her 2004 AWD Jaguar X-type sport.
It was badly out of alignment after the impact and I told her bring it into Jag today for service.
I figured she would probably bent some components, bent a wheel, blew a strut, or all a combination of some/all.
Well they aligned it, all good.
Except she needs two new wheels, they are factory 18x8. They cost $860, each. A grand total of $1950 mounted.
I was simply amazed that they were able to quote me that price and keep a straight face while doing it.
I ended up ordering a set of four Enkei J10 in matte black (color choice was based on earliest availibilty) for $760 (mounted and balanced) from Discount Tire for her, and because she bought the rubber from them, they are going give her two new tires if the fronts are damaged when inspect them while swapping over.
I don't know if she'll like them, but I like saving a thousand bucks whenever possible, so tough shit.
