First position is great, thats a good job, regardless.

But, I want to add, the SCCA has done a very poor job classing Saab as a brand. The stock turbo Saabs run in G-stock, which I think they are underclassed (but its the rules). Stock BMW's running in G-stock are the 318 and 325E models, not fast by any stretch of the imagination. Who would you expect to win that kind of a race? Acceleration is only a part of the race, cornering is much more important, but I still stand by claiming Saab is not classed for proper competition.

 

I'd get the same shit rallycrossing. Even got a few "why did you even bother to show up?" from some of the Subaru guys. I think I beat all but 8 of them that time.

 

Event organizers like that need to pull their head out of their own self righteous ass. It's no BMW that's for sure, but wouldn't it be damn boring if every car was a BMW? Variety of cars and drivers is what makes autocross fun. It appears this guy forgot that.

 

People generally like when I bring my Viggen to Auto-X and other fun events, sucks this one was a little skewed.

 

sometimes a bunch of people collectively get into a frenzy when everyone they know drives the same brand of car. We don't know anyone like that, would we?

Typically, with a group of saabs we will get at least one "Saabs suck" yell, typically from someone departing who's already in their car driving away! :lol: I respond "so do you"

 

i was surprised i didnt catch much flack racing my c900. i got a "thats the first car i raced!"
but we will see this coming weekend! i do agree saabs are placed weird in SCCA the viggen is caught somewhere between ST and STX

 

The bigger problem for the Viggen is if you do any sort of "common" upgrades (rescue kit, koni suspension, rear sway, subframe brace, etc.) to it, it places it into some sort of fancy open class where you are going against some serious hardware.
