um... I think it may rain here in Central Mass.

Thats all, I think.
haha yeah youd like to think so.

my uncle is a warning coordinating meteorologist with NOAA, he sent me the latest plots, which are starting to agree. He said the issue is the models all just took a western sway.

Most of rhode island will be start seeing the storm approximately the middle of sunday afternoon (times on the plots are based on eye of the storm), predicted crappy weather as far as 36 hours before that.

landfall in the northeast is predicted to still be a cat 1 hurricane (sustained 74-96mph winds).

here you can see the convergence of the models.

Im a little bit concerned, i mean last time we had a hurricane we went 2 weeks with no power and that was a smaller hurricanr than what is projected. Im leaving tommorow to go on a camping trip 3 hours northwest in the mountains with my girlfriend but im still a little concerned.

It'll sure put a damper on my weekend plans. The fact that they are predicting it will hit the northeast with wind like that is rather impressive. I'll be sure to move my Saabs away from any trees...

I guess we'll see what happens.

A lot of my family lives in the Outer Banks of NC and they're definitely preparing for the worst. They're used to these situations, but everyone is pretty much freaking out. I'm sure some coastal counties in NC are evacuating.

Couldn't imagine having SCD this weekend............impossible. Look forward to it being rescheduled to next weekend:th_MySaab900Like:

So yeah, many of the tracks are now putting it right over central CT and central Mass.

My friends here is on the emergency planning broad and he said they are preparing for bad news bears here. No power, ect.

Checking my supplies and I think we are ok. Water, 10 gallons of beer/hard cider, chips, fruit, bread and other easy to eat uncook food.

Biggest thing that makes it easy here is we have many neighbors with generators and wells. Water/showers will not be a problem.

I bought an extra 120 rounds of 7.62x54r, and made sure the chainsaw has fuel. Other than that, I've got all the stuff I need, but I don't see it getting terrible this far inland. At least this way, any would be looters will be fucked if they come to my house and actually make it inside. Again, I highly doubt it would get that far, but one never knows.

cool little toy to play with

WunderMap Interactive Radar & Weather Stations : Weather Underground

-set map type to "map"
-uncheck nexrad
-select model data
-select model "GFS"
-select map type "wind"
-zoom out a tad and click play

for extra, you can scroll down a tad and select "hurricane" to have the 2/3'rds cone overlayed also.

im watching this tool closely to see what winds are/will be doing...looksl ike we might just barely skirt the 6-70 knot wind and stay in the 40-50 range.
