VT, hey, how do you like the Kinect? Been thinking of getting one.

Yeah, Neil, you guys east (well, Southeast anyway) got pounded with snow. My brother is on the Eastern Shore and got it, too. He was supposed to come down with the family today, but got snowed in.

Here? Less than a 1/4 inch.

Set up for recognition wasa really quick and a lot simpler than I thought it was going to be. The kinect adventures game that came with it is pretty fun, but I haven't tried any other games yet. I set it up after christmas morning and everyone was playing it for pretty much the rest of the day.

Zhu-Zhu pets for both kids.
Barbies and Barbie accessories for Sarah.
Some Lego Duplo sets for Erika.
New pajamas for Erika(this was her favorite present!)
A couple packs of Silly bands for Sarah.
A new baby doll for Erika.
Other assorted toys and trinkets.

Our gifts for each other were boring.
I got Karina a new electric tea kettle.
She got me a Sharper Image massage cushion.

My birthday and hers are in January. I'm getting her a new digital point and shoot camera and I think she's getting me a Wii, which is more of gift for the whole family.

I don't do gifts, I do experiences. I put out the Festivus pole on Thursday with my dad and went out for the night to celebrate, then spent a nice Christmas Eve with my little guy, my sister and my dad and his parents-- the roast beast went rancid, so Jill and I saved the day by grabbing a couple of KFC buckets. Christmas night I was treated to martinis & dumplings by an old friend, who basically had to carry me out of the restaurant. Boxing day was spent getting rid of all kinds of clutter and drinking.

I was also given a case of my favorite wine, so clearly the gods want me to punish my liver in the worst way possible.

I couldn't sway my "loved" ones into buying me any Saab stuff or car parts, but I did pretty good:

Flip MinoHD Video Recorder
Dvd's (The Other guys, Inception, A-team)
GoldenEye for Wii
Pajamas & Sneakers
Giftcards for a Kindle 3G I got a few months earlier for my birthday
Other miscellaneous stuff

Great xmas overall, although I spent way more than I anticipated on gifts! And I agree with Guru about the experiences thing.....I'd much rather take a crazy, memorable night over many, many things (all except a p.o.s. Saab that I spend too much money on, intend to fix, and take forever to do so)!

I hope that everyone had a good xmas too! Enjoy the rest of the holidays while we have them!
