Fuel Injector Leak

Hey,

So I got home and everything, but I smelled gas at a rest stop. I thought it mightve been some residual from the injectors install but it turns out not... All the injectors were leak free and seated well, all but injector number 3. Its leaking out of the top, where the injector meets the fuel rail.

My guess is that the angle the injector is sitting at is wrong, since the injector spacers couldnt be used. Does anyone know what to check? Any remedies to stop the leaking? Its just that one injector, so I doubt its an actual problem with the injector itself, just the seal at the rail.

otherwise a leak free/ trouble free drive home from Niantic (thanks everyone)

I have to figure out my wastegate on the t25, i have to put on a helper spring on I think because the waste gate just cant hold itself. I never went more than 1/4 throttle the whole way though because of the injectors and the compressor surge :(

I will have my saab dealership look at them. If its definately the injectors that are causing the crappy leak, I will get a refund from jak and get green giants if I dont do any more

it could be, we made sure to thoroughly oil the o-rings top and bottle before fitting them. We shall see, I looked into it with a flash light as soon as I got home and it really was leaking a good amount.... It could have easily become a fire unfortunately, so I will have to take it in first thing monday morning.

the GGs looked good, and to be honest I wouldnt have gone with jaks if I knew they were going to be like that... Oh well you live and learn, thats the optimum outlook.

Maybe siemens might be overkill because this will be the last step in power for me

The C-clip "groves" Jak made in the plastic of the injectors were not exactly optimum... The injectors were not really quite right so he had apparently made some groves (with perhaps a hack saw?) for the C-clips to lock in. I suspect there might have been some issue with that. O-rings looked fine to me, I would suggest trying to turn that injector back and forth a few times while pushing lightly on the fuel rail, that may help it to seat. If it still won't, I would suggest getting some correct fitting injectors, not some that were "made to fit"

ok, I will do that. If not, I will get green giants if the leak can be fixed. I only hope that if it is the fault of the injectors from jak that he will refund my money when I send them back

Thats what Im going to have to try, but its not really in my hands I got back home and parked it in the garage. It was a good half hour before my parents were screaming at me about the smell of leaking gas lol

So, it is going to be towed down to Saab of Greenwich as per my parents forceful recommendation. I have my mechanic there (Gamil) and hes done alot of my performance related stuff and so far is the best mechanic I have had. We shall see, I will keep you updated :l

so greens arent that great? what about seimens?

Did you put anything on the o-rings when you installed them?

I used a small bit of Vaseline to lube the o-rings. Makes a world of difference. My guess is an o-ring got torn when you pushed the fuel rail down on top of them.

Not really the injectors fault.

Also, I am not using the clips on my T5 injectors on my 86, and those have been solid for a long time.

I had a few teething issues getting those set up, but that was my fault.

Im going to talk to the saab guys at the dealer tomorrow... at least they will give me a loaner car, because of all times this is when I need it the most to do my job.

yeah, kinda sounds like it might have something to do with those injectors not being meant for the car. This is what they look like normally:

notice theres no top groove, its possible that there was some damage done to the plastic part on one of them, and its leaking from there. Personally I'd probably get a refund, and get some of the 630cc seimens or the green giants, those at least fit properly in the car without hacksawing. Also, I'd bet the dealer isn't gonna want to have anything to do with your car once they see those injectors.

well, that could be the problem. Im going to, but then that will involve a new tune, and buying the new injectors. Are the Seimens comparitive in size to the 50#s I have right now?

I just hope jak will take them back, never had to deal with him on refunds especially after theyve been installed and used. Fingers crossed! I will call him tomorrow, but I will have to have the car towed... rather pay the tow truck than have the car catch on fire

Ok, it is at Saab of Greenwich right now... It is very disheartening to follow a flat bed with your car on it :(

Any how, I had to briefly start it up to move it into position for the flatbed and the car was running rough and putting out some greyish smoke so cylinder 3 must be misfiring. Also, the leak has gotten worse. My mech confirmed, but the good thing is I trust him alot so it will turn out well.

I believe that if the injector problem isnt fixable, I may go back to stage 4 but we'll see what happens.

Ok, so I got my car back... it was all fixed thanks to gamil at saab of greenwich. He changed the o rings on the top of the injectors to better seat and fit into the rail. It does not leak at all any more, and the car is a beast!

The JZW ecu is also great, smoother than any of my jsp tunes and best of all no check engine light. I am getting about 35mpgs now! Much better than the measly 20.3 that I was stuck at.

FYI if thats a number from the SID, its not right anymore, since the SID isnt recalibrated for the bigger injectors.

I know, I lucked out on a place that is honest and does top notch work. They only have one guy there who works on my car, hes done all the modded stuff so far and nothing he has installed or checked has ever gone wrong after.

I cant wait to drive it some more though ;)
