Saw it today. Sounded great, lots of hot BOV action.

Being LHD, I'm guessing it was imported from continental Europe?

Gave a thumbs up but the driver wasn't interested in entertaining a conversation.

Too Bad the black car is just a clone, There are only 4 real Sierra cossies in the us. Also only Legaly importable in the last two years. The YB Is very similar to a B204 but cost a million times more to maintain. Here's a real cossi, Note the lack of tag lights. The lights are in the bumper on a real cossie. Not on the outsides of the tag like a merkur clone has. Also the real cossie were made in Belgium, Merkurs were made in Koln by Bmw for ford. The cossie is a Flexy flyer death trap with No Frame rails ,Crash supports etc. The Merkur was actually a much better chassis.

This REAL cossi is some where in the midwest now.

That's freakin sweet.

There is a guy here in HB that owns an XR4 that he twin-charged with a Holset. It's pretty ridiculous. The body looks like hell, but when he pops the hood it is impossible not to drool.

Guy is the security guard at Party City off of Beach Blvd and the 405(next to BJ's) if you're ever in the area and fancy a look. He's a chill guy, always willing to bullshit about cars.

that car in the first pic is definitely a xr4ti, not a genuine cossie.

the true giveaway is the tag lights on either side of the license plate.

if the picture was better you could tell if the brake conversion was from a sierra cossie or if it was the pbr front brakes and turbo coupe rear brakes.

the second giveaway is the exhaust pipe. i have never seen an after market cossie exhaust that didn't have the muffler all the way at the rear of the car, such as the mongoose exhaust on my moonstone blue cossie that hackbar posted earlier. of course that could have been a custom exhaust fabbed up for the car, which it would of had to have been anyway since it is a merkur. if you could see the other side of the car you'd see the gas door too. which is another true giveaway of a clone vs a genuine cossie.

as for the big windows and lack of the c pillar, well that's a common body mod nowadays.
here's one from a xr4ti that got the full cossie awd train.

that's not even considered a lot of work in my circles. however, splicing a subaru brat onto the back of a xr4ti is bit more work.

here's the backs of the two cars together.

the other giveaway is that the lip of the spoiler is shiny black like the rest of the car. all genuine cossies had a flat black lip on the spoiler.

it is a cabal!! lol.

it's a deep dirty sickness, once get into the merkur world, it's hard to get out. and once you get in, you have no choice but learn everything about the coveted sierra cosworth. we're all a bunch of cultists and addicts. you can't find any merkur junkies cuz all their would be drug money gets dumped into the cars. it's a total sickness to take a car that you buy for 1200 bucks and sink another 22grand in it to end up with a car that's worth about 2500 bucks.

but i digress, we were speaking of the merkur cabal. we have a short peruvian leader. he even has cossie socks. i think he even has cosworth tattooed on his butt, but that's an unconfirmed rumor.

oh, here's a nice vid to show off our sickness too. all the smoke is from the rear tires breaking traction on the dyno roller.

I know intimately of the disease of which you speak. A friend's XR4Ti was the first turbo I drove back in the day....

yeah, that one is ridiculously overpriced. we have been laughing about it for weeks now. of course we all wish they were worth that much, cuz half of us would be sitting on gold mines that own several of them.

you know, funny thing is, that most people that don't know what a merkur actually is, usually ask what kind of saab is it? lol

Just to clarify, I never said the OP car wasn't a clone.

Just the idea of of hacking the body and replacing the glass, but not recessing a couple of stupid tag lamps is so hilarious I couldn't justify it being the sole argument as to authenticity with obvious contradictions in Harvey's own statements.

That said, I obviously know nothing about the cars other than the twin-charged one down the street is scary fast.

not easy to find a Ford Cosworth but i have seen these go for reasonable price. There was one on ebay about a year ago ,no title.went for under 5k.they seem to be well under priced.
I read some where that a builder was using cosworth yb pistons in a b202.i think they needed to cut a 1/2mm off the tops of the pistons.
heres a rs200 and a mercedes 190 e cosworth.

the rs200s come up for sale from time to time. they are close to the $100k price though.
the mercedes cossies are up for sale all the time.

the black car in the OP is indeed the same one in the sale ad from connecticut. it's owned by a dude named robert in socal. it was oiriginally built by a guy named peter and his friends. it was the first cossie clone in the US. peter now owns a black 3 door genuine sierra rs cosworth.

the blue sapphire is owned by a dude in connecticut named jeff labonte. he had it at carlisle this past year in all it's multi-colored glory. he built it from pieces and then due to some connecticut titling loop hole he was able to actually get it registered as a sierra cosworth. but it was imported as parts, not as a whole car. he painted it this summer and it's now p for sale. although it is a genuine cossie, it does not have the 2.0 litre yb motor. it has a US spec merkur motor. i can't remember if he said he's selling it to build a true cossie powered sapphire, or if he was going to get an escos.

sorry to bring up an oldie, but this thread made my heart palpably ache for my old xr4. it was an all white '87. sold it off to Florida a long time ago. and my ex-wife threw away all the pictures i had of it.

guess i'll just have to buy another...
