Hello everyone. I recently purchased my first Saab. It is a 2002 9-3 Convertible. I had a couple of issues last week (busted radiator and bent wheel), but I love this car. It has made driving fun again.
If it hasn't been fixed already, when the car is getting the radiator done, have the shop drop the oil pan and clean it out and check for sludging. Also have them pop off the valve cover. Don't want this experience to turn sour on you, and your motor locking up.
Sorry for the faux "Mainer accent" .. but the last vert I drove like yours was from Maine.
Topic came up the other day. Hangar flying and swapping yarns and such and someone said the wheels were a soft spot. At first I kind of dissed the idea but my kid went through a few bent rims. Looked fine but .. I think he hits the back roads harder than I do. Perhaps some engineer factored that a softer wheel beat lots of suspension and power-train damage in the middle of ...
Welcome aboard! Tweek has the right idea. There's far too many 9-3's with sludge issues that are starving the engine of proper lubrication. As he said, get that pan and pick-up screen cleaned out and stick with a good oil. Don't forget to change it regularly and have fun driving your car!
