a few years ago I was driving back from Bangor one day heading back to BarHarbor when I came up on a new Dodge Charger with 14 day plates he was in the slow lane so I pulled out to pass him. The limit in the area was 55 and it was going up hill and we were doing 60 when I pulled up to him. Just as I got up beside him he stepped on the gas so I pulled back in behind him and he hits the breaks. I pull out again and he speeds upim in fith so I down shift and step on it. I look down at the speedo and we are just reaching 100 mph and then I hear his engine cut out and fire up again and he keeps this up and I realize he had a governer set on his car at 100 so I kindly waved at him and blew past him grinning the whole way up the hill while he tries to keep up I look down and see Im pegged at 135. Im all proud of myself till I look up and see blue lights...yeah I lost my licence and yeah he waved as he drove by while I was getting my ass chewed off by the cop...But atleast I took him in a 89 4 door turbo sweede machine lol.

I know those chargers are nothing to mess with. I got a ride home in one when my aero broke down. Let me say I had the time of my life the cop was sweet. It was snowing and he had snow the charge but that thing was still all over the place. This was the day we got this huge storm that dump over a foot on us. The cop was like do you want to have some fun. That made my night.

There's just a smidgen of difference between a police interceptor spec Hemi-powered SRT-8 and a Hertz midsize six-cylinder that's governed at 100....and only has 170 hp to begin with and has a bloated body to move around.

I know it was not a rental and I have indeed seen him again and he did compliment me on the run. as for the loss of licence it was worth it to me, annother testement on how bad ass Saabs can be and I have gotten my licence back not long after.

Limiters are related to tire speed ratings.

I can promise you the car did not have a 100mph limiter.

My older GM cars had 112-118mph limiters due to the speed rating being those numbers.

The lowliest Charger has the 2.7L and I think 190hp. They likely gave it S or T rated tires, so a 112-118 limiter is very possible.

The next step is the 3.5L with 250hp. This may have the same tires as the base with 118mph gov, or could likely have 18" wheels with a more sporting tire likely giving it a gov. of 130mph.

Next is the 5.7L 340hp hemi. This likely starts off with the 18's and speed ratings of 130mph as well.

Then there is the SRT-8 with 20's. This has the most sporting tires, likely Z rated which means there is likely no gov. relating to tires and if there is none it will go 150+.

on chargers and the Police interceptors. In NH thre are several of the Corvette V10 powered ones modded out with AWD for the State Troopers. I have personally seen them smoke all 4 tires taking off and watched it rape some quick cars at the track. Those things are sick and in NH the trooper cars color scheme is nasty..

I want a police package charger! As for the limiter all I know is that at or aroung 100 it kept cutting out. Not a car expert but I do know I want a hemi crammed under the hood of my saab lol
