Hi
105k 900c 1990 turbo red, 5 speed manual, very clean, beige leather interior (good condition). I am the original owner. I hate to part with this car and would like to ensure she goes to a good home where someone can give her the attention she needs. The transmission is shot which is why I am giving up. She has a few minor problems, electronic door locks are broken, broken rear lens cover, AC not operational, sagging headliner, SRS light is on. She has always been garage kept. I have most of her service records but not all.
PauH and DeLorean have both seen this car an can vouch for it's great condition
Located in DC/Maryland.
$700 and worth it!!!

Paul H and Delorean came to see the car today. I think they were impressed and would have bought her but they had some logistical problems on their end.
They can vouch for her great condition and even commented that "you just don't see many of these in this condition"
I am asking $700. She truly is beautiful and if I had a place to keep her I would just get her fixed up myself and keep her as a second car.
I want to find her a good home and am now serious in looking for the right person to take her. I am now going to place adverts on all the Saab websites and on CL among others, but would prefer her to go to this
community.

cheers

As much as I love 9000 The classic 900 is still my favorite, Great Great looking 900T. Good luck with the sale. It looks like the car was very well cared for.

So are there any shops in that area that won't bone me for a replacement gearbox plus installation if I were to follow through on purchasing this car? I cannot think of a logistically or fiscally feasible way to get this car back to New Hampshire otherwise.

In short, no there aren't - they aren't going to screw you in relation to other shops in the area, but car work is just not done cheaply here, from what I've seen. Labor is expensive here, and SAAB shops get pretty good business, so it's not like you're doing them that big a favor by throwing work their way (ie they're not going to get it done for $1k).

Also, to quote myself, "I no longer endorse Swedish Motor Cars" but have heard good things about S&S, Viking, and Scandanavian Import Service.

I posted this in "Should I save her?" post Ampalina first made, which also has links to the different garages. I will say that, were I doing this, I'd go with either Viking or S&S. Swedish Motor Cars has had bay space eaten pretty up pretty badly at least once in the past on a major repair and may not want to take on a project such as this.

Here's who to talk to in the D.C. area:

Viking Automotive: They're in Gaithersburg and it can be a bit of a hike, but it's possible to do it via public trans. I used them when I lived in D.C.

S&S: They're in Warrenton, Va., but have loaners. Never used them but know people who did and liked them.

Swedish Motor Cars: Falls Church, I believe. Again, never used them. They do nice work. It can get pricey, though.

Danneman Auto: Laurel, Maryland, right near a MARC station. Never used them.

DC area members on Saablink include: JackStraw, TweeksTurbo, Oliversexpedition, Talledega900, Blaque, Rudedog and some others I can't think of right now. You might try dropping them PMs, as well. I know JackStraw, Tweek and Oliversexpedition have had their fair share of c900s.

Good point, Jack, on the labor rates. I think the person I knew who had tranny work and some other assorted small things done on his c900 paid around $5K back in 2005 at Swedish Motor Cars. I can't remember exactly.

Well, he also tied up their work bay for the better part of the summer when parts didn't arrive on time. And, yeah, the clutch was kinda stupid in that car. You had to double-clutch the car between first and second otherwise the gears would grind.

Then again, you've seen that car more recently than I....It belongs to the "c900s are really reliable! Did you see that post on Saablink about those folks going through Canada?" guy.
