thanks for the compliments guys. that headliner was a bitch to get in/out!
mainly because of all of the little screws and shit holding it in. once it was down it was way easier to get it out of the car than i had expected. i was able to just turn it and slide it out the passenger door.

as for how dirty it was, the only reason i could think of is that previous owners were smokers.

ah it's not tearing yet. i don't have passengers in my car a lot so i'm not worried about it. i'm saving my money for mods to the z. i've got plenty of this suede left to cover the headliner in that car too!

Looks nice. I've tried the ultrasuede on the door cards once before, but it was really difficult and my project went another direction before I spent too much time on the cards.

haha. i had suede in my rx7 - pretty similar job to what t-johnny did - and yeah, I was ALWAYS combing it. Used to drive me crazy. I found that a slightly dampened washcloth was my best friend for that li'l issue.

Oh - T-Johnny, have you thought of taking the plastic bits like the sunvisors and oh shit handles, and painting them trim black?? Think it would look a lot cooler. Looks great though - good job on diy

hah, it's in the back seat. i pulled apart my dash when i had that small electrical fire and just never put it back together, just in case something more happened.

i bought 7 yards of material, but you probably really only need 3-4 at most. it was cheap so i bought a bunch.

huh, well that sucks. i really don't want to paint the stuff because painting plastic usually doesn't work well. maybe i can find bits from a different car that will fit, and are black.

It's been done before, Stx221 has had black suede in his 9-5 since summer. It looks good, but I think it'd look better if the trim was also black

 

yeah i'd like for it all to be black, but i don't want to paint the plastics. so we'll see what happens.

 

What about swappin' them for grey one's?
