Saabs can pick up the inside rear wheel on an autox course, too. Just for the record ;)

Sounds like a cool project. I dig bedliner, but those wheels... not so much.

They do in RallyX too...FYI.

That car would also do the same going into corners under heavy braking on a road course.

have you done any measuring or anything serious yet? or is it just talk at this point?

It could look like this one if done properly :) Granted, a VW and an Opel are nothing alike... but neither is a Storm.

the reason we even thought bout this is because hes pulling the motor anyway to
do a bayshave and wire tuck. he was telling me that we could set up the ecu so that its running like a stand alone set up. the real problem is mating the trans to the motor.
it is doable just have to take our time.

^^^ that was me on mikes account because he cant log out!

do you really want your engine bay to look like that? check out the motor mount
Thats a scary looking conversion! the bracket in the pictures just a stabilzer...i'm scared to think what the proper engine mounts/brackets look like

I like this converison (as im doing it myself) buts this one nordic done abit ghetto(imo), They've cut the front end of that GM opel corsa off and welded on a saab GM900 front end and modded/extrended the corsa's bonnet and wings to fit. dunno if you'd get away with that in the real world..? dont matter for this car as its only a drag beasts by the looks of it..

looks good though :)

indeed Mating the trans is doable but not easy, as an alternative in the UK we use F23's & F28 (which i run) gearboxes in our vauxhalls which are much much stronger than saab boxes and bolt straight up to the saab motor and use the standard saab clutch, You should find these gearboxes in the 2.2 supercharge cobalts...

& with this option the only thing that'll need to be custom are the mounts and drive shafts which are a peace of piss in comparision to mating the vw box to saab engine.

just my 2p

Make sure the conversion plate you fab up is beefier than Mike D's when he was planning to mate a b234 to a mustang transmission lol.
The mounts I don't see as being too difficult, but what did you do in terms of driveshafts?

haha ya I saw mike's plate funny cause I thought that the plate he had would be thick enough  oh well I guess if I go with the cobalt tranny I won't have to go down that route.

I say go for the vr6 turbo my friend has a setup with a t61 turbo at 20psi at 400+ whp and it is the best sounding engine ever imho they just have a mean euro growl and then when the dump opens its stupid plus spool would be better off a 2.8l 6cyl rather then a 2.0

Well i didnt have a problem because i put the engine into a GM vauxhall corsa so i was able to use OE vauxhall shafts on my car which are unbreakable to my knowledge.

but i've had mates get high spec shafts made up to suit any application for a very resonable price. you'll just need to call around before starting the conversion to see if you can afford whatever companies you have locally's prices, and if you still go ahead temporarily you could use some professionaly welded together ones untill you get the proper ones
