So I have always look at Viggens with great appreciation. I have also wanted to say I own 1 out of only 800 cars in America(hope I got that right). Well my local dealership just came in with a 2002 Viggen. Below is the details.

Retail Price: $21,995
Mileage: 36,914
Ext. Color: Black
Trans: 5-Speed M/T
Engine: 4 cyl
Stock #: 1SU0056
Vin: YS3DP75G227014965

My 9-5 Aero has been good to me and I love the car to death. I have always wanted a Viggen though. I feel like I am choosing between my two favorite ice creams or something. The only thing that makes me hold onto my Aero, despite the fact that I still smile everytime I look at it,is the trade-in value is low so my loan amount would actually increase. Now if I could sell my car for like 13k and talk the dealer down to like 19 or 20k I would still owe the same maybe less. What do you guys think?!!! My girlfriend thinks I am crazy, but I knew only us Saabers would understand.

thats a whole lot of money for the viggen, but they aint making em anymore.... if you shopped around a little bit more, and were even willing to pay some to have one shipped, you could find one for a whole lot cheaper, probably the same you would get for your aero. remember, most dealers are out there to make money so theyre not gonna want to give you a lot for your car and theyre not going to give you too much off the viggen.

If a viggen will put more of a smile on your face sitting in the driveway then the aero did, then you know what to do ;)

But 90spg is right about that being a lot for that viggen and if you really want one then shop around and even list your aero for sale

tough call, i miss my Aero on long trips. The aero give you the best of both worlds. sometimes i get annoyed with the ride of the viggen, and how cramped the cockpit can be. I often think about buying another Aero, but i think im going with a Cooper.

Then again a black Viggen...god damn sexy.

black viggen = zomg i need to change my pants!!!

for the year and mileage thats not a bad price. I bought mine 2 years about (same year gap) with 47k for like 18.9 (plus i scored brand new rims and tires :-D )

id take the vig but I'm bias. Sometimes all the attention they draw isn't the best though, i but I love mine and wouldnt go any other way.

That's why the 9-5 Aero is so kickass! The ultimate sleeper.
very very good point. It's funny cause when Nick and I drive around, his car sounds WAYYY more badass than mine but somehow i seem to get the attention. We were leaving a parking garage after workin on my car, and he was popping his turbo like crazy coming down the ramps, and when he went down to the bottom he drove out and the woman stopped me, not him, to ask why i was squealing tires...then i had to explain how a turbo worked :)

I am going to go test drive it and see if they will drop the price. I will also look other places for one. The dealer is just a Saab dealer with really good warranties and professional service, so I think they factor is the cost of replacing bad parts and the warranty into the price. We will see, but like it was said if it costs me more to buy the car even though the loan would be less due to the paper work then no bother. The only thing I would change about my Aero is the transmission, because that automatic really has some turbo lag.

You should in some ways have LESS turbo lag with the auto. The lag you might be experiencing is the nature of an auto transmission itself.

find everything you possibly can thats wrong with the car and ask for them to fix it. It needs to be written on whats called a "due bill" and signed by you and the dealership. They should do pretty much anything. We generally do. And get them to throw a free oil change and detail on there or something ;)

but at that price it better have the basketball colored interior! or tan interior....
Not gonna happen! I have the only one in the US (which has a sunroof) that basketball interior.

It's a tough call.... the viggen is a MUCH more nimble car to drive & I think is just more fun. The aero being more refinend & more comfortable

If you get a viggen I feel these mods should be done to ALL!!! viggen's

1) the rescue kit which includes the clamp & brace
2) rear sway bar - makes the car less prone to understeer
3) koni kit - spring/shocks - not only does it handle a LOT better but I was shocked by how much better it rides!

4) I just ordered Genuine's 6pt subframe brace & I will report back on the results. It will replace the 2pt brace that was on there

This would all cost $1500-2000 installed & completely transforms the car! It makes it a LOT more comfortable to live with

well I am test driving it tomorrow. Funny thing is I went to go drive it today and as I pulled up some guy in a business suit was taking it out for a drive. As he got in the car he said "Wow look were the key goes." then proceeds to try to start the manual car without having the clutch in. WOW!! The dealer comes over and asks me if I want to test drive it after that guy and I told him if the guy doesn't buy it he is an idiot. Then they told me they had a second Viggen that was hard top(the first was convertible). SO even if Mr. I Have Never STarted A Manual Car Before bought the convert I can still get my chance. I will let you know how it goes. I won't be buying it right away...I wanna see how much I can make them work/sweat for my money.

So I went to look at it and as much fun as I would have with the Viggen I have opted to stick with the Aero. All she needs is some brushed aluminum interior and refurbished rims and I would be in heaven. I look at the car and get the same smile on my face that I did the first time I saw her and that is something worth keeping.
