I take it you'd be driving the 900 mike?
I might go, I have to see how this 92 900 works out, gonna put it on the road in the next week hopefully. If my confidence level doesn't waver far from where it is now I might partake in the journey. Then again, I might also just take the 95 900set, I feel so torn.

Thanks for the pics Jon!

It was a great day. This was my son Matt's first Saab event. I let him drive about half the trip. He really enjoyed it. He says he wants to drive his Comm Ed next year.

Driving to work today I can feel that the event took a toll on my already failing PS wheel bearing--always something. :)

turbocon86; Could you tell me what paint you used on your SAS whale tail? I remember seeing in another thread that you had some issues with the paint and since I've had some as well with mine I was wondering you what ended up with that worked.

Here's a picture of the top of the whaletail.

It's actually painted with a few different things. It is an SAS one-piece fiberglass reproduction. I wanted to paint it to look like the OEM 2-piece. I actually carefully measured where the seam is on my OEM whaletail and cut a shallow groove in the fiberglass to emulate the seam. The main part is painted with a 2-K PPG black auto paint and then it got a 2-K clearcoat. I was painting parts of the car at the same time so I used the same black paint. I'd imagine you could get good results with SEM bumper coater as well. The clear I used is called SprayMax. It comes in a unique aerosol can. The can has an internal cartridge that you break to mix the two parts inside. Then you have 24 hours to use it. It's perfect for small projects and since it's urethane it has a deep gloss and is durable as anything. I wouldn't use laquer as a topcoat. It isn't as deep or as durable a shine. I got the SprayMax at my local auto repair supply store but you can get it online through Eastwood.com if noone near you carries it.

The "rubber" part I painted with a combination of SEM black high-build primer and SEM trim black. I used the high-build primer to coat the "rubber" part first, then gave it a light sanding with 400 grit paper. Then I kind of spattered the area again with the high-build primer. I wasn't looking for an even coat. I wanted it a little rough. Then it got a final coat of SEM trim black. Each area was taped off as I was working on them (main area and "rubber" area)--there is no overpainting.

Wow that looks very nice, exactly what I have been thinking about doing, thanks for the tips. What did you do for the drain holes? I was half thinking about putting a straw through it for a drain hole but I thought it would be too hard to make flush.

I just drilled holes and then cleaned up the edge with some epoxy resin. I cut large openings in the bottom side near the back that converge to little 3/8" half circle openings at the the back where the wing meets the hatch. After I painted it all up and was ready to mount it, I was thinking the same thing you were, I should have epoxied some vinyl tubes in there for drainage. I'm concerned about the thing getting filled up with pine needles and stuff over time.

I have a set of engine bay drains that are basically a straw with a plastic washer on the end, supposedly they are from a convertible but they were on a '93 900S that I helped JLausch rip apart. I think I'm going to try to make them fit this winter when I do some refinishing on the spoiler, maybe I'll PM you when I'm in the middle of that so we don't clutter this thread anymore.
