Did everyone see this car? It's only listed for $750!!! The parts alone are worth probably 2-3 times that. It looks like a clean car. If it weren't 7 hours away, I'd buy this right now without even thinking twice. Talk about a treasure trove.

It's not a 78, it's likely an 87... heck, they didn't even have 900's in 78. Yes, I saw it and was pissed because I don't have the money, otherwise I'd be on my way to PA right now.

That really isn't that bad of a drive for you Andrew. Get on the thruway, drive across the state, turn around and drive back. An airflow kit would be sick on your Commemorative.

I have been thinking about that... I just don't know if I want to take that kind of financial hit right now, I'm not sure how much I could get for it anyways.

But I am picking up an Edwardian Grey SPG in Cali when I get there, I have a car lined up and the owner is willing to hold it till I move. I would love to have the ability to build an SPG that is even close to the condition my vert is in now!

I had a bit of a chubby when I saw the ad, so I emailed the owner.

I'm officially de-chubbed after the response, but the owner seems like a really straight-shooter and all-around decent human:

Yes it is 1987. I made a mistake on the year.
It was running great when I parked it but I'm sure it will need some minor things to bring it back to life due to it sitting for so long. The picture was taken in the cars prime and i just want to make it clear that it more of a project car now. It does have some rust in the usual places that SAABs get rust but most of it is hidden by the ground effects kit. I do not want to be misleading in advertising this car so I am telling you that this is "high value parts" car meaning that the value I am listing for the car as a whole is the value of the parts that are worth selling if I were to part the car. Mostly the engine and the turbo but there is some value in the ground effects and whale tail kit also. I do not want to part the car because I already have parts for sale and would rather keep the car in the original look and drivable

Thats funny I emailed him on it to and he send me the exact word for word as he did you. must have been a coppy and paster. I am awaiting pictures of the car in its current state and my boss is going to call the guy and we might head out there from colorado to pick it up this weekend. I told my boss that I would take the trip with him in exchange for the waletail. :) To bad I just had to pay rent or Me myself would be on the road right now picking it up and I would have the whaletail and an aerflow kit for the 89 grey monster.

I guess that means you didn't see this one on Catskill, NY CL last month (87 Airflow). It's practically in your back yard. It was listed for $1500. I SERIOUSLY considered it, but I couldn't justify adding another one to the herd right now. Regretting now that I let it pass. No idea who picked it up.

Wow... that is beautiful ... even has the uber rare fog light vent inserts (I have a set). I wish these deals came up when I actually had money.

Omg, man. I can't believe I didn't see that. WTF. And I spend entirely to much time on craigslist too. Is it definitely sold?

I would trade my commemorative for that. That's a sweet car.

yeah I almost picked up that one in Catskill to fix up. My wife was egging me on, too.

I was gonna put the airflow kit on my vert and take my spg kit I got for the vert and make this thing a silver "spg"

But I just have this perfect storm of services and parts and maintenace with all three other saabs so it was bad timing.

I just heard back from the seller. Here's why the price went up:

Brakes, wheel balancing, various sensors and bulbs, clutch cylinders, battery replacement, detailing alone was 250 dollars, wheel bearing on the front, emergency brake cable.
It's not a high markup at all. It is not a 1500 dollar car, it is worth a good bit more than the 2200 that I am asking for it to a lot of people, notably for the lack of rust on the car, it is worth getting 2200 for to me, as I just picked up a Viggen, otherwise I wouldn't sell this car even for considerably more.

Still a bargain if he speaks the truth, now that it's fixed.

x2.... and I can't see the point of all the work he supposedly put into it, just to break even or actually even possibly take a loss a couple weeks later.

I couldn't say. I could go and look at the car if someone is interested. It's about 10 minutes from my office.

Actually I think 9000Andrew may have looked already. Perhaps he'll chime in.
