All are wheel power. Run41 is the best we could safely manage with the 18t after many runs *without* silly exh temps. I did make more with some softwares but it was not good power. On the AF, run 41 had no wideband into the dyno just the one on the dash, the other is at the tailpipe.

When we put the GT28 on it leaned it out a bit maybe 13.5 nearer the limiter till knock control would take over when we get it warm. Once we richened it up it made lots more and I also switched out the airbox to open kit to get even more.

I have not seen inside the case yet but I am not convinced an LSD would have helped. This is probably an issues of far too much torque. Probably helped along with a silly unsprung clutch from SE that I ran for a while. early on, it was noisy since then ;)

Then there is the whole part about the driver, might have been driven hard. But its a Viggen and it likes it.

This is interesting...

On one hand I would say that the LSD might help to strengthen the tranny, and actually smooth out the power delivery because the wheels would not be spinning like crazy.

On the other hand, I feel as if the LSD would have not let the wheels spin, and put all of that force into the axle or other bits of the tranny, and actually cause the break.

Thoughts?

Any others have experience with this? (before I spend $$$ to have a LSD installed)

well...I have a friend that has LSD and it seems like it's about the same. As you stated, there are those two factors that kind of cancel each other out. I wouldn't buy LSD for my tranny, I'd buy it for the immense improvement in traction, especially on a FWD car. Everyone I've talked to says that LSD does more good than bad.

The top mount will certainly fit the big turbo, I have yet to try one.. This whole gearbox thing set me back a bit :( also been a bit busy here at work.

The delivery pipe is in development for the t5 900 that are well above 300hp. ;) under that it is not much of a benefit. You can read about the pipe i made for my Vig on http://trolltuner.com

Just had the LSD installed. I was thinking that if the torque went to two wheels not just one ( and all the gearing) would recieve all the brunt force trauma of the torque monster's bite...

The wheels can still spin ( I need different tires) but you can feel and see the whole front end lift and twist when the power gets delieverd and the wheels stick.. it is a pretty impressive ( and propelling ) event.

The car definitety feels faster and more controlable...if it lasts longer even better

looks like a trip to the storage place might be in order.
...to check and make sure its okay. *wink wink*
you know, make sure it still runs. and maybe burns the tires off those steelies ;)
Nah, I want to keep it pretty. They seem to salt the roads here whenever its anywhere near freezing, precip or not. That and I've got another box of goodies coming sometime soon. I also have a 9000 gearbox...something that doesn't take to well to massive wheelspin...as shown by this thread (with Viggens).

As for Nick's delivery pipe, its a very well thought out design. There are little touches such as barbs on the bpv fitting that the stock piece just doesnt have. His price was also hard to beat...$250 for the 9k one with BOTH of the hoses shown in the pic (not cheap if you buy them seperate) and ss clamps.

Thanks for the info, can you tell I'm intensely undecided between those two snails??

Also, neat to hear you were over in Sweden for this install, prolly can pick up some tricks over there!

congratulations nick! sounds like a good setup you have going there. ever think of running a larger frame(GT30-3582R?) with less or equal boost? i would think it would be operating within its tolerances a little more

I will get the long story up on http://trolltuner.com but for now. The difference was hard to believe. The daily drivability with T5 cams and .64exh was like the 18t but just kept pulling. Now with the 23i inlet cam and t5 exh and the .86 exh housing there is a noticeable loss of low end but beyond 3.5K it "turns on" I have been playing with the cam timing and getting closer to right.

But then I do remember when the 18t was "very strong" so it is all truly relative.
I may go to a bigger turbo up top on the Vig but for the street this is close to the limit. It is hard to drive on dry pavement with street tires. It is not the tire-spin just the amazing rate at which it gains speed. ;) There just is not enough road between work and home.

Now is probably the time to build a drag car. Keep the Vig as an autocross / daily driver.
