yup, on my way home from a movie tonight, i stumbled upon a yellow VW, a 20th anniversary GTI. i pulled next to him, and he looked over. it was on. i got him to about 45 i would say, and we both took off. i pulled what i think was about a car on him by the top(ish) of 3rd. we were coming up on the only traffic that was out there tonight.
then he pulled next to me again. we took off from about 50 and same thing, about a car length when i had to slow down (i was gonna take the first possible exit to school), but once i saw him continuing up the turnpike, i decided to follow.
the last pull was from about 60ish. i pulled about a half a car before i shifted to 4th, then pulled another car on him.
i then took my exit, and he followed. i needed gas, so i pointed to the gas station and he followed me in. really nice guy, i complimented his car, as it was pretty sweet looking. he then asked if i knew somebody, and turns out that this kid i had raced a couple times knew one of my really good buddies! after that, he told me that he really liked the way my car sounded. i asked if he was up for a couple runs again sometime, and he told me to have my buddy get in touch with him, and he would like to go out again.

damn fun couple miles on the turnpike tonight, with an even more fun guy to race around with. definitely nice when they dont get angry because they get a car length pulled on them. i have a feeling that this guy will be back very soon with a little something else to go faster....but so will I :D!

i know. it was definitely nice for a change that had someone appreciate what happened. but then again, i wanna go out again, cause even though i know i pulled approx. a car on him every time, i wanna know that he was always in the right gear, having a 6 speed. so we will see. hopefully i get it all lined up before next monday.

BTW, my tune date was changed for monday the 29th, as i am gonna have to work on saturday the 27th. so i am psyched, cause i am working in a garage that specializes in saabs (doing who knows what yet, ill find out tomorrow), and gettin my tune in 7 days!

those gti's have so much character.

the recaro seats, the aggresive lip, the tuned exhaust.....

they are great cars, i would buy one for all the cool little quirks and features, but not for the 1.8t

as demonstrated, saabs kick ass! nice kill, its cool that you became chill with the guy too.

nice kill man yea i agree those are sharp looking. I personaly think that and the most high end passats are some very nice looking autos i considered both after totaling the saab. but just like cpenning said... saabs just kick ass!!

i raced a nicely done jetta iun northern ct on 84, blue tuned, we never got to line up, but we were about even until 115-120 my car started gaining, but i had also been stupid abot the 4-5 shift. so i was a little behind. but i got a big smile and thumbs. i know how you feel.

Sounds good Nick. A nice car too. Honestly, I would take that over a R32. More tunable engine for cheaper, and you dont have the weight of the awd. And, like Zach said, so much character!!

So maybe your summer in Orono wont be so boring!

nah, i knew it wouldnt be boring. actually, i have to make a phone call, i might have a meeting on the interstate with a viggen tonight. we will see what happens though.

and mcrowley, thanks for the congrats. let me tell you that this job is gonna be a ton of fun. basically, its like having fun all day playing with cars, all while getting paid for it. i ripped apart a 9-5 engine today, and it was really nice to see how it came apart.

updates on the vig later (if i meet up with the kid)
