Wtb: 1986 9000 - any color/interior

I am on the search - I want a "nice" 1986 Saab 9000 - first year car. I want one which is solid and in fairly decent shape. Euro model is a plus (there are a few being it was a first year car) Non had any sun-roofs from the factory - I would prefer one of those that did not have the aftermarket unit installed at the dock or dealership (or later). Leather would be nice - cloth is OK if it's in decent shape. They are all manual trans cars too as well as turbo. There is a nice white one in VA I've been trying to get for a few months now - but the seller does not return calls nor seems to care that there are interested parties contacting him via phone (only contact means).
I have the bug well implanted in my head now - so I want a 1986 9000 (otherwise when I sell my 1990 vert I am going to buy the 1986 Vert I know where is stored and rarely driven)

Any leads are welcomed - thanks!

This one looks okay, but it sounds like you are looking for a stock one?

what a damn shame... maybe for $1000 and it was De-Riced.... yeah - stock is what I prefer, or closer to it then that one anyways. If it was closer I'd go and see "how bad" it is... but that one takes the prize of what not to do with a 1986 9000... lol Nice paint
Found a bland listing for one in Williamsport, PA - I am going to call about this one and see what it's deal is. Still looking!
Ha, Good luck.

that car looks REAL CLEAN... toss some saab wheels on, change the exhaust and take out most of the gauges and it would be a nice car imo.. 1800$ is cheap.. if it was closer i would look at it for sure:cool:

dont like how you cant turn the acc off in the older ones tho..

I was still thinking about that one - it does look rather clean - but I would not offer a cent over $1000 b/c I do not know what else was "upgraded" and to what fashion it was done. Besides - like you said, I could more than likely get that car back to near stock fairly easy - and sell off most of the "upgrades" it has on it to recoup some costs. Again - it's not just around the corner, so going to check it out isn't something I can just do...

Not turning the ACC "OFF" really wasn't a big deal - you just turn the fan all the way down and it's like being off - but it's not a one touch function which does make it easier.
Nice looking 9k. His ad says "$11875 cash, no trades" , probably just a typo on his part, or maybe not.:)

ha - yeah, the header price is right, and on par for a potentially "rust free" saab.
Negotiations undergoing - might end up going to get that car this weekend after-all lol
Also there were TWO on craigslist yesterday - this is one of them - a little higher priced then it should be, but still a decent example.

The other I have been in contact with the seller - in upstate NY - but his listing account got hacked so he needs to reset and re-list it. It looked like it had an early airflow kit on it too - needed some work, but also has had an engine and trans replaced with NEW in the last 2 years. Under $1000 too - will post a link when that is posted again - but that's my #2 choice so far if it's an early airflow 9000 - perhaps Euro model not sure.
That one in Jersey is fairly close to me. If you tell me what to inspect on it, I could look at it Thursday or Friday night.
I roll around upstate NY a bit if the second one resurfaces

The mileage is 135,000 and the saab has been serviced by a Saab specialist for the 11 years I have owned it.
I am happy to show the car to you. You may call to make an appointment: 973-783-9845.

Thanks,
Yass
I asked the owner of the one in DC to take these photo's for me;

Pictures I am interested in - not seen;

Straight on Left & Right side pics
Straight on Front and Rear Pics
Under Carriage (front and rear)
Inside Trunk
Dash shot - face and top (easy to snag from back seat or with hatch open)
Bottoms of the doors
Shock Mounts

Typical 9000 failures are as follows;
Parking brake handle mounting points crack and the handle pulls out of the floor...
Rear shock towers crack and eventually the shock pops through
Master Cylinder (located under the windshield in the cowled area) mounts crack and cause a bad clutch pedal/in-op clutch
Bottoms of doors rust
Bottoms of rear 1/4's rot
Wheel arches rust (behind the trim it starts)
Power windows don't work
Headliner falls down
Wheel bearings go bad
Blower motors
Heater cores leak

I'm sure there's a few things I've missed....

Anything I can do, let me know. Also let me know about that NY one. I may look into it myself. Again, killing my mom slowly with cars.
Needs work but has already had a lot done:

Yep - that's the one I was originally thinking about - looks like an early Airflow or something - the seller is nice, I have the contact details on this - I sent them to Tweak since he seemed insterested in this one. I got that other one from MD this weekend - I will make a thread maybe tonight about it.
