my 95 NG 900 is leaking trans fluid heavily out the axle shaft seal on the driver's side, and not sure why. After replacing the seal there where the cv axle goes in it didn't help , and seems to be leaking worse now. The cv axle looked good where it contacts the seal and i made sure to install it with a light touch and not damage it. Is there another seal further into the differential that could be causing the problem???
BTW - it's a manual trans.

If its a Manual you need a New Diff Bushing Cost Like 35 bucks And Well You Should Seek assistance to install. If Is an Auto? Asian WERNer Does not make the Bushing Available. Sorry you need a trans.

dang, that would explain it then. the shot bushing is making it wobble and that's why there's a shimmy at 65 mph when the tires are new and balanced. so i assume the manual trans has to come out of the car to fix this ???

If its really true that the asin warner tranny has no replacement seal, that would kill my day for sure.

Seems you have a manual, so you will have to drop the tranny. This means the subframe comes down unfortunately...

The Seal is More than Available, Its the Bushing the Axle goes into inside the diff thats not Available from Asian WERner....And yes they Wear out, Usually Innercity Thrashing.

Hey Harvey's Autohaus - so the diff bushing can be done without pulling the trans ?? that would be the best news i've heard all day( aside from the DOW gaining 500 ).
i'm located in San Diego... looks like you are in Baltimore ??

Alright Pull Both Axles Out Of the Diff 'in the car' Pull the Drain Plug and Fill plug Out..... Now you NEED a Body SAW. Small Air Powered With a Very High Quality SAW Blade.. You Have to cut the Diff Bushing Through Lenghtwise with the Saw So you Can Colapse the Bushing Enough the Use A Slide Hammer With A Hook on it to SNATCH the Old Bushing Out. Afterwards Rince the Internals of the Diff With Brakeleen and AIR Several times to get the metal Shavings out of the diff. Grease up the new Bushing and Drive it in like a Conventional diff bushing. ITS REAL TIGHT! New Axle seals too. Check and Make Sure you don't have Severe Wear or Grooves in your old left Stub Axle, If the Bushing is totally trashed the axle Usually is too.

thanks very much for the directions. sounds like absolute hell, but still less painful than dropping the trans. One more q - where can i order the inner bushing from??

an update on my trans leak. well i lucked out since turns out the side of the trans case was cracked... so a quick patch job with JB weld and it's good to go. To explain the crack i know this trans was a replacement which i found on craigslist and must have been bashed around when out of the vehicle.
but there is another related problem... there is a shimmy in the steering wheel around 60 mph and only when accelerating. so it could still be the inner bushing going out ?? anything else i should like for, like tie rod ends , wheel bearings etc?? the tires are new and balanced and the ball joints were recently replaced on this vehicle.
