Omg this absolutely blows, I'm really sorry for what happened to your car Kaylan. Glad you're ok, but damn all that work, time and money all gone within minutes. I'm glad you can joke about it, you're bigger than I am, cause I'd be going ape-shit. Good to see you've still got it in you to do another "SAAB" project. Chin up Kaylan.

My worst nightmare. Absolutely heartbreaking.

You can buy my '93 Aero. It's got a straight body. $2k.
I actually was thinking about if you still have that thing. Im looking for Imola Red. I want to do red and black again, but with a red car. Maybe I will be in touch.

nothing that was made out of aluminum that came out of that fire is safe to use.
Actually with the brakes on one side and the wheels on the other, the adapters look to be OK. I will know more after I can pull the wheels off but for right now im not supposed to touch the thing yet.

They still got f'n hot, I wouldn't touch them with a 12 foot pole.

they may have held their shape, but all their heat treating is out the window. they are NOT safe to use.

Kaylan. I am in shock of what happened to your car, but what is more shocking is how you have handled this whole situation. Kudos to you!

Are you sure the transmission is okay?

Paul

Wow... thats just painful to look at. I would definately be rather upset with the fire crews taking so long to show up. Cant wait to see what your next monster will be.

Would anyone mind telling me what NIRA is?

Ah, got ya. I had seen that talked about before regarding one of Nick T.'s cars. Learn something new every day

Rob at Scanwest will be taking it apart to check over things. We will possibly swap cases, but it is in general "ok". ;)

This is my feelings exactly, people don't understand that the aluminum we know and use is a heat treated product, and it is not safe to assume the heat treated properties still exist in the material after a fire like this. Also with certain parts getting hotter than others, an aluminum part could be under a significant amount of stress just sitting there.

Rob and I agree the only way to know for sure if something is still good, is to examine it, and test it. ;)
