ok, i've always thought that bhp meant british horse power, but lately i think it means brake horse power, and if it's brakehp, then wheelhp should be the same since the brake and the wheel are at the same point... i'm an idiot, lol

nice pulls, what color is your viggen, cause i saw a blue viggen at the fox run mall in newington a few weeks ago

i was gonna dyno today but the list was way too long at the dyno place. I think i am gonna dyno next weekend. My buddy who has an camaro has a good friend who is going with his trans am that will most likely break 400rwhp. I was just real tired and my car was acting shitty all day. The BPV is makin wierd noises, my wheels are all bent so i would need to swap with someone.....and lastly my lugs came a little loose cause i used wd40 on them the day before. I retightened them the day before but they started to come loose again. It was makin real wierd noises and i thought it was the suspension. i was too dumb to take 30 seconds to tighten them up till i got home......anyway i wanna dyno my car next weekend with my brand new wheels and tires. But now that u got 230 whp im gonna cry when i only get like 200 whp, lol. As long as i get above 215 whp ill be happy.

horsepower

just to let you know bhp doesnt mean brake horspower it means block. whp mean wheel horsepower. Bhp is how much horsepower there is at the crank. Wheel horsepower is how much of the total power is going to the wheels.

Uhhh ... no. BHP means exactly Brake HorsePower ... it's measured when a brake is applied to the engine until the engine no longer is able to increase revs or power. There is no such thing as "block horsepower" ... as you certainly could not measure the horsepower at the block, rather at the flywheel or crankshaft, which is why there is crank horsepower, and flywheel horsepower.

The issue of wheel horsepower is highly debated however. To find out if your dyno run was accurate try this link to my post on the SSc forums:

http://www.saabscene.co.uk/ubb/ultimatebb.php/ubb/get_topic/f/23/t/000693.html

It's easier than me posting it here.

Most Evo 8s dyno at 220-245 whp, and get spanked easily by my "mere" 213 whp Viggen. So I know that some dynos can be innaccurate. The above link should give you some idea if the dyno was a little bit optimistic. Saab put a lot of effort into making sure all of the Viggens performed nearly exactly the same. Generally they are dead smack on 212-214 hp.

Well, there are also always a hand full of cars that run a lot harder then average and there are always a handful of cars that run less then average.

Today was also a very nice day for dynoing, it was 50 out and sunny, nice and cool, the car had plenty of time before hoping on the dyno. It was an inground dynojet at a very reputable shop (one of the only shops in the US with AWD inground dyno).

My friend dyno'd his Typhoon afterwards and his numbers were dead on for what he has (257awhp and 400awtq), so I don't think its necessarily an "optimistic" dyno.
