On the way to go get an MRI the other day my 95 ng 900 decided to eat its upper idler pulley. I have a belt on hand. I was going to go with the factory pulley because I don't want to risk the scantech. Anything else I may need or should check before ordering parts?
Aftermarket plastic runs $35-$38. Wazee is $56 for forged aluminum, will last forever and you only change the $5 bearing in the Wazee when it wears out. Can't beat that and no the price has not gone up.
I just installed a wazee idler pulley on sunday. It makes more sense to buy one of these since the plastic ones don't seem to last long and the bearing is replaceable on the wazees.
The Goodyear 4060967 or Dayco 5060968 should work fine. The Goodyear is available from Summit Racing for around $31. I purchased the Dayco locally from Advance Auto Parts for $33 (in stock).
Make sure you're putting it on right. I was able to do it without even jacking the car up. If you route it wrong it will be a little long. I have replaced the belt using all the pullies, bypassing the middle one, and also the middle and a/c compressor. Never really had an issue.
