Umm... Body Kitted Cougar.

Sooo.

I am driving down a highway in Cuba coming home from a family gathering. I am driving my stock 2001 9-5 Aero.

I see this red newer Cougar with a body kit and the rest. I look at my dad and tell him I bet I could race this guy. As he is passing me I give it some gas in 4th and drive a little away from him. I hear him hit 3rd and just romp on it.

We're going like 120mph and he is still only like 1.5 cars back. I say to myself, seriously?

So we slow to 40mph, and I give him the signal to honk. We go, and I immediately put about a car on him and hold it. But I am still thinking to myself, wtf this is a cougar...

So we slow down again, and I ask what he had done to his car. He replies: 3L swap, heads, cams, tuning, etc etc.

Apparently them Coug's can be pretty quick (with assloads of mods). Should have had Mike D do the stage one after all...

-edit-
It was nice to see someone who knew the signals and didn't just ricer fly by me.

Wow, news to me... I thought all of those things were turds. Sounds like a decent enough driver though.

After a little youtubing, apparently they can be pretty quick.

Interesting, I won't sleep on all of them anymore.
IIRC, the FWD Cougar used the 2.5l version of the Duratec, making a 3.0 swap pretty simple. I'd imagine that with the 3.0 block and a nice integration of some SVT Contour bits, it could be an interesting enough engine. Personally, I'd rather have it all wrapped up in a SVT Contour body.
Certainly caught me off guard.
News to me. Good to know for future reference!
good to know a highly modified swapped cougar is slower than a stock 9-5 aero...

saabeh, just say the word and well fix that issue
I know of one around Kansas City that's boosted and makes something like 330whp. I totally hate how they look, though, and would never choose it as my weapon of choice, regardless.
Yeah I always liked the SVT Contour, and with mixing and matching of 3.0L block as said, it can turn the Cougar into a fun car. There is also a bolt on blower that would have turned that car into something much quicker.

I thought the SVT Contour was cool as well. I see a few of them around, but they're beat to death and back.
I got ricer fly by-ed yesterday...some stupid DA integra.

Coming home from CT I had a WRX with at least exhaust and a BOV come up fast behind me in another lane. Kid had what looked to be his GF in the passenger seat. I down shifted and kept pace, during my shift the BOV went off and his GF looked over, gave her the nod which he must have seen cause after that he never got along side me, even in traffic. It was pretty classic.

Anything CAN be quick, it's just a matter of how.
