Hello, I was subsquentially wondering if there are any reliable tune for the turbo x, and a big turbo upgrade?

Check out Nick T @ Genuine Saab dot Com - I know he has already done some upgrades on a customer's TurboX - can not remember what was all done aside suspension. There is not much out there...yet.
I have 10k to spend in reaching a goal of 500whp with track suspension. Hopefully he can help me out.
That will likely not happen. I am willing to bet you would need pistons at the very least past 400whp, so not just simple bolt ons anymore.
Dude, send me the 10 grand. I'll send you a cool sticker.

Lol.

Turbo too.
Turbo too.
The turbo I consider a bolt on and would be a given as I think the stock turbo won't support anywhere near 500whp, let alone 400whp.

You don't think the stock turbo can do 400whp? I would think it has room to grow - given 100hp gain is a bit on the far end, I would imagine it should get close to that. Not alot of options which would fit are there? Twin Scroll.... guess one would have to measure clearances and such - options have to be out there.

agreed ,,,,, and nick t would be the guy to talk to in order to get it done!!!

The car is rated at 280hp CRANK. We just saw a dyno on here, it's something like 210-225whp. So 400whp is a gain of 190-175hp. THAT IS huge and I bet money the stock turbo huffs and puffs hot air long before then.
I was thinking gt45r with 3.5in turbo back

ha! good luck fitting a turbo that size in there. thats going to run you more than 10k buddy. the turbo is almost half that.
go for it!

If you can reach Nick T`s workshop, you are halfway at 500 HP!
And 10K should be more than enough for the mods, which are, give-or-take, the following:

- a TURBO... Indeed, up until now TD04HL19T seems the only biggest bolt-on option, but Nick can find the right solution, especially given your budget ;). Expect some 1.500-2.000 USD for the turbo and another 1.000 USD for the accesories/lines/hoses/other modifications, etc. Hope the stock manifold will allow the use of your choice of a bigger turbo. If I remember well, there is a guy that found a twin variable turbo...check that out!;

- Forged Pistons: some 600 USD the parts and then...the labour 500 USD :(

- Full 3" exhaust with sport/race catalyst: some 1.000-1.200 USD (good that you must go with the twin pipe cat back system, not only for the looks...and I would choose Ferrita, for lifetime warranty (Swedish stainless steel) and THE SOUND!!!);

- a sport air filter: 200 USD including instalation;

- performance intercooler: 1.000 USD on the core and 200 USD on silicone hoses;

- a short shifter and uprated base bushings to really feel that car (if your car is MT). TWM sounds for the time being as the best product, although GS has also an own short-shifter solution and base bushings:(http://www.saabcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=190194). Price: 400 USD including installation;

- I would re-enforce a little bit the car (subframe brace, bushings), another 200 USD, including parts and labour;

- some other bits of custom parts, like billet pedals, oil and water cap, s.o. another 300 USD;

- A LIVE TUNING, both on the dyno and on the road/track! That would be some 1.500 USD.

TOTAL: 10.000 USD

Depending on the remaining $$$ and any extra budget, I would search:
- a Hirsch rear diffuser (another 400 USD the part and some 200 USD the labour) and
- a full BBK (front and back, 360mm 6 pistons brake calipers, with full floating discs). I would go for black anodized calipers and disc bells ;). But expect for some 4.000 USD for the full kit :(

And I would not regret it a second!!!

Sounds more like it. one can always dream big at first and come back to reality which would be reaching 485whp. I plan on this car being in magazines. High offset wheels to fit a lot of rubber, coilovers, custom interior (recaros) re done in suede, removable rear seats, and a removable roll cage. I have experience in racing go karts all my life, and have been taking my car to the track, homestead speedway. It is sponsored by a local shop Swedish solutions in Miami.

what-ever mods you do, it`s your car...but for God`a sake, make tasteful ones; after all, you have a SAAB, not a ricer car :D

As for wheels, beside the mighty Hirsch 19" 3 spokes, there are some new wheels from SAAB...don`t take any BBS BS (bull sht) to put on VADER`s car :)
Use SAAB/Hirsch wheels, to really have an exclusive car (that way, no 1995 MB with the same rims can stop by your side at a traffic light).

The Aero seats of SAAB are lightyears more nice than RECARO (IMHO)...as for the roll-cage...why?

Although, do the coil-overs ;)

The issue here is just physical space. The engine bays of the X are nothing like OG9-3's.

This is true, the V6 and XWD transmission take up a lot more space under the hood than my 4 cylinder Saab. But the engineers have been very kind in they layout and turbo location. There is plenty of room to install a larger turbo in the Turbo X. It might take some custom exhaust and moving the battery, but a larger turbo is doable. It also helps that the V6 is a single vs twin turbo engine. My friends with Audi 2.7T twin turbo engines have to remove the entire engine to swap out the turbos.

So far it appears the intercooler is the largest restriction followed by the catalytic converter in the downpipe. Those are the components I'll be upgrading first. The stock exhaust is huge, 2.75" or 3" all the way back.

Talk to Brian @ VTuner. I don't think there is a single person in the US who has more experience tuning the 2.8T. PERIOD. He knows that engine management system inside and out and has delivered serious results.

His stage 2 upgrade (19T wheel, injectors, intake, plugs, tune, 93 octane) put down 393whp on his personal car. A XWD car would have a little less since his is FWD.

He is constantly refining the ECU calibrations, and his support is top notch.

Nick T is also a good bet for things like brakes, exhaust, and suspension stuff. Brian only does ECU's and the supporting hardware.
