Awhile ago my dad revved the engine too high, heard a big sound, and now the engine has a ticking/ clicking noise. It's been sitting for about 3 years and i decided to dig into it, but I don't know the problem. Here is a video (the exhaust is bad so it's pretty loud, sorry):

That's the last thing I wanted to hear. It sure sounds like it's right under the valve cover, but I can't tell anything wrong.

Well now my dad is saying he knows exactly what a rod bearing would sound like and he says it's definitely not a rod bearing. I don't know though.

Have you pulled the valve cover and taken a look? Short of a collapsed lifter, there isn't much under there that would make that sort of noise. Might check that the chain guide on the valve cover is still in place...looks like a plastic/rubber pad over the chain area.

There were actually a few lifters that were spongy, but i thought maybe the air pockets would go away. Are they fully collapsed then?
