So I have a 1986 900 and When i go in reverse and apply the brakes there is a hard thunk. It normaly only happens once. I have been told it might be the CV joint. Does any one have any input on what it might be?
Thanks,
Matt

Early 900 brakes do that. I don't think its a sign of pending doom or anything.

I've seen people talk about 'fixing' it, but I've not paid too much attention since upgrading to the later setup is cheap and fairly straightforward.

I've had a couple do that. IIRC, it's because the sliders in the older brakes wear over time and there's a little movement when you switch directions. I don't think you need to worry about it unless it's really bad.
