The Southern California region of the Volvo Sports America club is putting on an event to cruise up to the Solvang area (Solvang is a Danish settlement 45 mins or so north of Santa Barbara, so fellow Scandinavian influences).

Info is found in the flyer below, and this note courtesy of Drew Ortiz:

Heres some info ....
Now is the time to make your hotel reservations and plan to join us
for an overnight road trip to Solvang on Columbus Day weekend! See
attached flyer for full details. Tom Dougherty has done several trial
runs and we have an invigorating, scenic drive planned through Casitas
Pass, down into Santa Barbara for lunch at East Beach Grill, and over
the mountains to Solvang. We'll depart from World Class Motoring in
Agoura Hills on Saturday morning- this car gear store will have coffee
and donuts to fuel us up before departure. Once in Solvang, there will
be wine tasting, a group dinner at Pea Soup Andersen's restaurant, and
a Sunday trip into Lompoc to view the famous murals before we continue
back down the PCH. Make your hotel reservations now, as we have a
block of rooms reserved for SoCal VSA at Pea Soup Andersen's Inn. All
Volvos and Saabs (and their owners and friends!) are welcome on this
weekend event. You are also welcome to join for the first portion of
the drive and head back Saturday evening. For reservations Saturday
night October 9th:

Pea Soup Andersen's Inn
51 E. Hwy 246
Buellton, CA 93427
www.peasoupandersens.com
805-688-3216 or 800-PEA-SOUP
Say you are with SoCal VSA!

Once you have made reservations, RSVP to [email protected] so we know
to expect you and your Swede!

I am going to go, but will probably just go up Saturday, do the 'activities' and then drive back rather than stay over the night.

A few of the LA area SAAB club members are planning to go, and Walter is trying to decide which car he wants to take. I'm hoping he doesn't try to drive the art-car '67 model 95 wagon that we have parked out front, I'm pretty sure it won't make it, and he will make me turn back to fix it for him all the way up Hwy-1.

If I have too much merlot, I am planning to equip my C900 hatch to 'Roadtrip Mode' and sleep in the trunk outside the hotel.

I will need to borrow someone's sink to brush my teeth in the morning though, so pipe up.

Happy Friday!

Best,
Drew

I knew I should have held onto my car longer, this sounds like a spectacular drive. Would anyone be able to tag along? I laughed at your sleeping plans Drew, and who wouldn't want to cruise in the rainbow car lol.

Walter told me today he's taking the '67 wagon up on Sunday and that it will make the trip.
