95 900se convt 5sp turbo, came with brand new had the blading firehawks on it.

New tire is Sumitomo htrz II 205/50/16. And they down right suck!! balding firehawks held much much better these tires work okay in heavy rain and puddles but when its dry they do not corner! If you want the tuner and directional look go ahead but these tires suck!! STAY AWAY!!

there are many many tires that are superior to the Sumitomo brand. I wouls also stay away from Nanking
In the very competitive price range, I've found it hard to beat Yokohamas for my Viggen.

I like General Exclaims... Had nothing but positive experiences with them.
not sure I have ever head anything good about sumi tires......

There are lots of great tires it just depends on what you want. You can't beat the main brands Michelin, Pirelli etc but they can be very costly. Cheaper tires like Toyo, Yokohama offer a good alternative at a cheaper price point but they almost never work as well as the top brands usually in the form of getting louder as the tire wears out

Then there is the cheap stuff..... like the Sumi's......
BFGoodrich g-force sport. Cheap, sticky, and attractive.
I plan on trying a set of Falken Azenis rt-615. I've heard they are pretty good on grip, decent price, but they don't have much life.

X2 They seem to last a pretty long time too.

Do they? Im figuring two seasons out of them at this rate. So roughly 20k miles.
Mine were on the car when I bought it with about half tread left. Ive put roughly 13k on and there almost at the wear bars. A lot of those were highway miles though. Id expect 25-30 with mostly highway.
I bought the HTR Z III's and I can only say good things about them. Maybe they changed significantly for the new model? Anyways, try General in the future if you want a quality low budget rubber.

this

i have a set on the front my my 9k, and while they are a comp tire best suited for auto-x and track days it did very well for the drag strip once heated up....

i know they are not built for drag racing but these tires are the best griping tire i have used on the strip short of drag radials or slicks

Because you use drag Radials and Slicks on a regular basis?
i have recently and they are awsome... stick like you would not believe

Ditto. I have the ZIII also. Awesome tire for the price...check out the professional reviews on tire rack...it beats most other tires in its class. I autocrossed on them all last year and the year before.

Don't forget sumitomo owns falken, dunlop, and is partners with Goodyear.
Also, if ultimate track or autocross grip is desired...there are lots of tires I would pick over the rt-615, even the new k version. Check out the dunlop star spec, or the kumho xs. If you have money to burn, look at nitto nt-01's. They use the same compound as the toyo ra-1/r888.

I agree. They were on my Viggen when I bought it. They have been very good to excellent. Id get them again for the price and wear

Yep... they get a lot of people dissing them just because they're so cheap, but they are absolutely great tires. I like them more than my Dunlop 9000's I had that came on the Viggen.
My girlfriend burned a pair of Exclaim UHP in one summer season (no rotation). They were great and all the same I'd buy them again (for me, she now gets 400+ treadwear A/S's)
anyword with someone using Firehawks GT? Those did better then then the new ones that came with it. Also I have now put a thousand miles on those HTRZII the they do OK in heavy rains. light rain they slide. The cornering is loose and you feel unsecure. stopping is decent from 60-0, 100-0 they tend to break loose a little bit. I do have 4wheel drilled and slotted with a race 2 pad?? (need a little heating up before)
