I hope to copy Daveship's route taken with the Ebay FMIC and 2005 Aero front bumper but I did not realize a Spearco bar/plate IC could be had for so cheap on Ebay! The piping would have to be worked up but shouldnt be too tricky.

Here is the ebay IC bolted to the underside of Daveships bumper...

And here is the IC I plan to use....

This is not the IC Daveship used but the dimensions are virtually identical. I figure with the piping and shipping, the IC job should run about $500.

Great job and thinking Daveship. This is a great blueprint for an inexpensive and highly effective upgrade especially when you consider the stock IC is not front mounted and very restrictive and KJ, Maptun or Abbott IC's run around $1000 plus shipping. I think the extra work needed for installation is worth the savings especially since you are getting better cooling up front.

that looks really clean, but if your setup is identical you might run into a problem: that air filter in the fender is WAY too small

It's cool...it's not my car you are looking at. These are just my plans to copy someone else who went this route and this is his black 9-5. It looks like the saab is on a lift and the vette is just sitting behind and on the ground.

FWIW: That's a great IC price. I paid about $300 shipped for a slightly used Spearco with essentially the same dimensions. Definitely go for it....(a side note: I bought a different huge ass IC from Boostcoolers to see if it would fit but it was way too big. The weld quality and endtanks were first rate, though. I'd buy from them again.)

I used 2.5 inch mandrel bent stainless for my piping. All the places I found on the Web were ridiculously priced; I eventually found a guy in southern NH who sold thick walled stainless for about $25 per 90 degree bend, and he left the legs really long, like 8-10 inches past the apex of the bend.

good luck with it....

There's guy on ebay who sells constant torque clamps for a fantastic price, harradengarage1. With these, you don't need clamp liners.....

I've done this few weeks ago since one of my customers had a front accident which damaged his whole front end of the car and the set for a 2001was out of stock in the dealership .. so I told him to convert it to a 2005 :D

although he was impressed with the look of the car he wasn't happy about the amount of money

Parts to change from 2001 to 2005:

Bumper
Top Grills 3 pieces
Lower center grill
Foglight grills 1 pair
Foglights pair
Headlights
Indicators

But it changes the look of the car so much.. specially go for a mesh grill for the top grill..

The thing is you can convert the front .. but the rear is very difficult
