Hi all,

I have a saab 1999 93 2.0 Turbo. Once the belt snapped at the garage and it put back. And

On the high way appx 70km or above, i started to hear a skinny sizzling noise (definitely not the TURBO). I would assume that one of the pulleys or as easy as the belt is no good.

However, my questions is how can i diagnose a pulley.

Well, well, could be something else?

Start with the tensioner pulley. Loosen and remove the belt and try the pulley to see if the bearing is on the way out.

Start by looking at the belt system, I looked at the 99 9-3 auto and the small pulley bracket (alternator bracket) had snapped and held on by one bolt.

Use a 1/2 socket extension and loosen the tension and pull off the belt. Spin/check each pulley, including the A/C pulley and see if it makes a grinding sound or wobbles.

Are all your plastic splash guards underneath the car in place? Wind noise at higher speeds?

Well, this testing kidda impossible at the moment because it is -20 here :).

If i bring back to garage, would rather to change all the pulleys and the belt.

I have the plastic splash guards but they are not in the best shape. In addition to that, we had a crazy melt down here. All the snow, salt and chemicals melted and created small lakes and rivers on the roads. That day, i had a crazy noise from belts for sure.

I would like to see wobbling, however sound appears in a higher speed.

Would it worth the change the all the pulleys and the belt, or should i wait until end of the winter?

You are welcome to take your chances, but if you seize a pulley or rip a belt, you are dead in the water. Unpleasant, to say the least, at -20!

hmmmm.. Currenlty i am being unlucky to get some parts to my saab. It seems like there are lots of after market parts that manufactured slightly smaller size or bigger size.

So for, as of today, i dont hear any noise or sound....
