Short Shifter Install on the Turbo X

Installed the Genuine Saab short shifter and bushing kit today. The stock shifter is rather pathetic a requires improvement. The install is straight forward and fairly easy. The hardest part for me was snapping the lower ball back into the socket. Took some measurements and the stock shifter distance, from big pivot ball to little ball is 2.90", center to center. The Genuine Saab extension adds 0.70", basically a 25% increase in length. Took some before/after pictures to show the change in throw. I kept the camera in the same location and lined up the photos in Photoshop, then reduced the transparency to get an overlay. The ghost knob is the stock location.

In my opinion, this is how the shifter should have come stock. I'm happy with it and it definitely feels better, but I would still prefer and even shorter throw.

Wow, you don't fuck around... you've had the car for like 3 days and it's already getting mods lol.
Whats next LS1 swap lol jk
neat - I love the photoshop overlays! Mod list is 1 shorter now :)
Whats next ...
I've got it scheduled for a base line dyno pull next Wednesday. After that I will put on an open intake (my wife likes the sound) and I'll build a catless downpipe. Then some time after that VTuner stage 0. I probably wont do much else after that until it becomes my main car, currently it's my wife's main car.
Does the VTuner void warranty?

Looking into it for my dads X.

As I understand it you get a OBD2 cable and software when you purchase a VTuner upgrade. So you can flash the stock maps back on if you have to go to the dealer. If I can confirm this I would be willing to get the software sooner.
Cool, good to know.

And yeah, stage 0 is nuts. 320hp, and like 402 ft/lbs of torque.
These small 2.8V6s can be crazy.

I've really been waiting to see if any of the guys over at ECUProject are going to get their hands into Montronic 9.6, but who knows...
Where can I get this short shifter?

I really would like to change the shifter hight and the long throw on the stock configuration!

There is a company in Quebec, Canada call TWM Performace that do make a short shifter but they do not make one for our 2008 Turbo X.

My car is stock and I am eager to do some performace mods such as lowering springs, short shifter and an ECU mod without any real hardware swap.

Any suggestions regarding what companies/products would be great!

TWM does have a short shift kit for our cars. the six speed is the same whether its in a base model or T-X.

Saab 9-3 6 Speed Short Throw Shifter

as far as springs check out genuinesaab.com and talk to JZW on here or on his website about getting a tune.
a week after i bought my t-x i put in the g.s. short shift, solid shift mounts, and shift cable stabilizer, HUGE improvement. took me about an hour and a half to install.
i noticed a lot more shifting effort was required.
i guess this is normal? its actually make my shifting slower :(
