Hi

I believe this may be the first thread here from me, but not the first post!

I am about to replace the shocks on my c900 vert, i would like to go for Bilstein B6, but how would the more flexible body handle shocks that are rather stiff? If you don't know what i am talking about i can tell you that you can feel a big difference in body flex when driving a convertible compared to a regular c900. Especially noticeable when driving over a railroad crossing for example.

Current setup are regular stock (probably from factory, 175k miles old), non-turbo shocks with lowering springs (Kilen/Lesjofors).

With stiffer shocks, would it feel like the body flexes even more? Could be a hard question to answer, you will probably need to have driven both a c900 vert and a regular c900 to even know what flexing feeling i am talking about.

It is not going to be a trackday car, but i don't mind a stiff ride on the street. It is going to be low n slow, that is why i would like a set of hard shocks combined with a set of harder springs. Currently rubbing the arches extremely easily with more than 1 passenger in the car...

So, anyone out there driving a c900 vert with Bilstein B6 (for example)?

I used to have SPG springs w/ Bilstein HDs and it was a great combo, but ride height was too tall.

Swapped in Lesjofors and opted for Koni adjustables since I am fickle about ride quality. Currently on middle firmness setting and find it to be pretty damn nice.

I would like some thicker sway bars, though.

ETA: Also, you want this -- http://www.saablink.net/forum/items-sale/60490.htm

Are Bilstein B6s the same as Bilstein HDs? I know that Bilstein B6 are also known as Bilstein Sport here in Sweden.

I always thought my vert was far more rigid than my hatch. Everything about the vert was more firm than the hatch.

Maybe it's just me....

ironically the sedan was the more rigid than either the hatch, or vert, The notchback having better rigidity than all.

i think you just dont notice the chassis flex as bad when the roof is down

I have always felt that the vert is flexing way more compared to other 900 3doors i have driven (about same amount of miles, and same chassis setup)

I think it is most noticeable during a little more inspired driving on smaller roads with many sharper corners.

I forgot to mention it in the first post, but it feels like it is flexing a lot less when the roof is up which makes me think that it is rather the body flexing than just a set of worn out shocks. Of course a set new shocks would make a difference.... just don't know what happens if you go for really stick shocks on a not very stiff car. That is the question

Like others stated, koni makes the best c900 shocks no matter the number of doors or if it has a roof or not.

Not that bilsteins are bad, just koni is better :)

Yes 4dr is most rigid due to having a roof and also not having a huge hole where the hatch is.

I must be the only cheap boy runnin KYB gas a just.

Even bought em use from Malko.

I like, almost removes rear run on 16 rims over bumps that aren't very severe. I added shock assists to get rid I rear rub.

They are cheap but work a treat...

On a swedish roads, I wouldn't bother about lowering and making stiffer a convertible. Although I definetely wouldn't do that in my country :)

Convertible actually is like a jel pudding compared to 3 door, not even talking about 2 door, the most rigid chassis of 900og.

joH900 - You swedish guys use alot of bilstein race shock absorbers from speedparts - have You heard how are they compared to koni's? I am interested in track use only.
