School me on C900 Exhaust Options

I need an exhaust for a new to me c900.

I wanted Genuine SAAB for the SAAB c900 burble but they are NLA.

Besides Starla/Walker ... What is there? Does anyone still do performance stuff. What have you c900 guys done?

Bennington Muffler put a custom stainless system with a Borla muffler on my son's Comm Ed. Big improvement in performance and sound. Nice burble, loud but not offensive. They are probably not too far from you to get it done. Unfortunately they sold their mandrel bender a few years back.
Approx cost?

I'm also fighting the fact that a complete starla system is only 130$ from cat back. Less then just a flex pipe on my NG900!

He just got it done cat-back. He plans to get a 3" DP and go catless when funds allow. I think it was like $250.
Here is JK88's c900 vert with a custom cat-back 3" mandrel bent exhaust with a Magnaflow muffler:

So thus far the consensus is that for C900 performance exhausts there is basically nothing, leaving custom.

Excellent. This should be fun. I'm a mediocre welder at best, but have access to a mandrel tubing bender at a friendly local shop

Can I get a Carlsson replica tip anywhere you guys know of?

Love the sound in those clips.

love it so far. the sound has only gotten better since then.
skandixusa.com still carries a sport exhaust system for the c900. I have heard it in person and it's pretty nice.

They have single tip and dual tip (carlsson-style).

I have Skandix Sport single tip on my turbo. Looks like they are out of stock, but e-mail them and see what the availability is. I have heard these is actually a Simmons system made in Germany.

I would highly recommend a custom 3" Turbo back with a magnaflow muffler and gutted cat... Best sound for a c900 imho.

Zach,

Where'd he get that tailpipe.

So exciting hearing that. I never 'got' the C900-thing til I got one.

Sent Skandix an email. Never heard of them before... This is why I ask... I know nothing of real SAABs.

That exhaust tip is now discontinued. But it was made by Vibrant.

Either way, the tip is not what makes the noise, the magnaflow and 3" is ;). The tip does change the sound slightly, but not a whole lot.

Example, this is DanF's SPG without a tip, but similar setup.

And JT 3" Turbo back

I know the tip doesnt make the noise  hahaa

I just liked it. hahaahaa

Not sure whether to go 'original' or do my normal performance thing. Leaning towards "reversible performance"

I would honestly do a custom setup... It'll cost about the same (if not less, depending on where you go) and I honestly think they sound better.

And the tip does change the sound slightly due to the shape changing and the fact that it was resonated. I have heard tips change exhausts by quite a bit before. ;)
I think that's where I'm headed.

Thanks everyone.
Details, pics, etc on the car? :)
dont buy the skandix kit if your car is lowered. The bend over the axle doesn't fit. ask me how I know.
Just let the intermediate pipe after the cat rust off.

Thats what I did, now I can't hear or feel anything any more :)
