what a great site to see! they're saving one for your driveway, right?
To clarify, I haven't seen this in person Saab USA posted this clip up on the Tube of Yous.

Still, it's kinda neat to think they're so close when they're rolling off the boat after having come in through the harbor, past Staten Island and Bayonne!!!

Awesome, but it'd be way cooler if they stormed the beaches from LCACs.

(But seriously, that'd a be a fun publicity stunt. Amirite? :))

Just for fun, start with the Jersey Shore.

As far as I know, they've been importing cars the same way since the 70's.
Well, yes. It's just neat to see them. Kind of like birth. Happens more or less the same way since, well, a long time ago. Still neat to see the kid, no?

Also, I can't remember if the port of entry has changed much for Saab. I think some of the first ones were brought through Florida and then driven north. With Saab being in Connecticut for so long pre-GM, I can't help but think they might have used a port in Rhode Island (VW still does, I believe) or even Connecticut rather than Newark - which is really Elizabeth and pretty much directly behind the IKEA you see from the Turnpike.
